Try these five items to boost your immunity this winter

Winter is a wonderful season to go about, and just enjoy yourself. But one can’t really do that if their nose is blocked or they’re running a severe headache or even fever. It doesn’t make sense that you always have to open your wallet to buy medicine and Strepsils in this season rather than going out and having a nice warm mug of hot chocolate or even having roasted sweet potatoes with friends. In recent times, research has shown that there exist multiple methods with which one can easily maintain their health and immunity during the worst of this season. Let us start this five items to boost your immunity off with the following:

Cocoa:

This happens every time. You sit outside to catch a rare glimpse of the winter sun and read a newspaper, but the cold weather absolutely blocks your nose, and due to that, you can’t read. Well, this ‘cold’ weather tends to constrict your blood vessels as well, due to which your chances of contracting a stroke or even having a heart attack are significantly increased, especially if you are straining yourself. Studies conducted by Australian researchers proved that people who had hot chocolate of rich flavors at least once a day for a few weeks noticed a drop in their blood pressure levels by about 2-3 points upon checkup.

Variety of farm food:

Researchers state that people tend to consume more nutrient-rich and antioxidant-infused food when there’s a variety of it present in front of them. During a test with about 66 people, it was discovered that the group which was offered a large variety of healthy farm fresh foods overall consumed more than the group which was offered just one type of healthy food.

Honey:

I guess watching all that Winnie the Pooh did give us some important information. That is, Honey is good. Researchers in Israel found out that Honey is the healthiest and mother nature’s own way of bringing comfort from a cough that may be turning your throat raw. It was noted that for children from the ages of 1 to 5, Honey is the best option to go against cough syrups.

Healthy berries:

Get it? Healthy berries? Halle Berry? No? Just me? Ah, okay, researchers discovered that there are some chemicals found in berries such as strawberries, blueberries, and even raspberries that often tend to duplicate the effects of valproic acid, a prescription drug that is provided to patients diagnosed with manic-depressive mood disorders. The cold and unforgiving winter weather can be quite a strain on a person, mentally speaking. To counter the intrusive thoughts that may make their way into your consciousness, always have some berries on a daily basis to make the negative thoughts go away!

Acai Berries:

Acai berry is a particular purple berry native to Brazil and torrid climates in the southern hemisphere. It is considered to be one of the best  when it comes to countering the stress that is induced from a weakened immune system due to the harsh winter cold. Recent researches unearthed the benefits of Acai berries and the ways in which they can easily replace artificial vitamin supplements along with lutein and Coenzyme Q10.
