Delhi Union of journalists, PCI and IWPC to hold peaceful protest at PCI on Thursday

Several journalists organisations in Delhi have given a call for a silent protest in New Delhi on 18th February against the alleged increasing repressive actions on journalists at the pan India level by allegedly registering cases under severe sections of IPC thus scuttling the freedom of speech and right to expression posing threat to the fourth estate.

In a letter of appeal to journalists the president of S. K. Pandey and general secretary Sujata Madhok said : To condemn the recent harrassing raids and continuing arrests, attacks and harrasments against journalists, Delhi Union of Journalists calls for a silent protest alongwith other organisations of media persons including Press Club of Indian IWPC on 18 th February, Thursday, at Press Club of India, between 1 PM to 2 PM. Request the journalists to join them in this peaceful protest the president of DUJ senior journalist S.K. Pandey said that this protest is in continuation of our struggles to preserve freedom of the press and freedom of expression in the country.
