A speeding vehicle dragged the body of a 25-year-old man for 11 long kilometres on the Yamuna Expressway Until the vehicle was stopped near a Mathura roadblock on a Tuesday morning. Police officers who were part of this investigation disclosed that the car was on a journey from Agra to Noida when the victim was caught on the left side, closer to the rear wheel. The body then proceeded to be dragged for 11 km before it caught the eye of the police at a checkpoint close to Mathura. When the body was recovered, it was mangled beyond recognition and was sent for a postmortem.
The additional superintendent of police, Tirgun Bisen, said that the body recovered is that of a certain Rijpal Singh, who happens to be a resident of the Urenga village, which comes under the jurisdiction of the Bakewar Police station of the Etawah district. Rijpal used to work as a delivery driver for a private delivery company based in Delhi and met with this horrible accident while he was returning to his home in the early hours of Tuesday. The driver of the car, Virendra Singh, is currently being interrogated; along with that, the CCTV camera footage around the suspected point of the incident is being examined as well. Upon being questioned, Virendra stated that due to Intense fog on the highway, visibility was dangerously low, due to which the victim got involved in the accident and got dragged under the car. During the preliminary investigation, police found blood stains near Milestone 106, which is roughly 11 km away from the point where the car in question was caught.
The police state that the accident likely happened around Milestone 106. Currently, the police can’t say it with absolute certainty that Virendra is the person responsible for the death of the victim or was it some other vehicle that collided with Rijpal, as the vehicle that was seized for being part of this incident did not have any form of damage on the front, which would likely happen in case a collision of any sort was to happen with a person at high speed.
