They believe that this measure will lead to a gradual tightening of the legal immigration procedure in the country.

As the majority of immigrants tend to support the Democrats, this demographic freezing measure will put a stop to that.
Whereas some people saw this step as a measure to cover the chaotic economic situation the country finds itself in.
This action is said to be triggered by the government’s failure to curb the spreading of the coronavirus and seen as an attempt to justify it.
Also, it provides them with an opportunity to enforce their anti-immigrant agenda.
