Terrorised Pauri Garhwal inhabitants protest demanding caging of a maneater

The inhabitants of Nainidaanda block in Pauri Garhwal district are badly terrorised, frieghtened and infuriated as the terror of a maneater leopard after the brutal killing of a sixty year old resident of Keldhaar village on 28th October and thereafter another attack on a person who was lucky enough to rescue himself has literally shaken their confidence compelling them to remain indoors even during the broad day light.

The highly angered women, youths, students and senior citizens today staged a sit in and also protested strongly
raising anti administration slogans against the government and the local administration, demanding immediate capturing and if need be, elimination of the predator, whose terror has badly scared the residents of Nainidanda block especially the parents of the school going children who are highly apprehensive of attacks on their innocent children while going to local school.

The agitating people, majority of them women were holding playcards, raising slogans demanding getting rid of the maneater. The district Panchayat member Bilkot, Anita Madhwal on behalf of the protesting residents presented a memorandam to the administration demanding Rs Ten Lakh as monetory compensation to the bereaved family of late Dheeraj Singh of Keladhaar village and a government job to the next of the kin of the deceased.

The memorandum also demanded capturing of the maneater within three days or if need be its elimination through government appointed hunters failing which they will be compelled to make their protest movement widespread. Good number of the residents of Keldhaar village and the members of Nainidaanda Vyapar Mandal including the neighboring villagers participated in this sit in cum protest demonstrations.

Prominent amongst those who participated were Manoj Madhwal, Anita Madhwal, Deenu Chaturvedi, Dinu Chaturvedi, Head of village Bilkot, Head of village Talla Kaula Prem Singh, Surendra Rawat Suri, Dhyan Singh Rawat of village Utinda and others.
