Today is the birthday of Congress’s interim president Sonia Gandhi who was born on 9 th December 1946. She has been leading the Congress party for the last nineteen years after the tragic assassination of her husband n former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi facing all the odds n severe challenges. Despite not keeping good health having come to 74 years of her age she is still on the saddle of Congress party as its interim president with the oldest Indian party’s election due in the near future. Several political leaders across political spectrum have contracted her on her 74 th birthday today. Sonia Gandhi is not celebrating her birthday today in view of the ongoing farmers national protests in support of their genuine demands this expressing her solidarity with their transparent noble cause. The Congress party has also issued directives to all the state n union territories’ presidents and office bearers including at the central level that they should not celebrate her birthday today including cutting of cakes etc to express their solidarity with the farmers’ ongoing struggle demanding revocation of the three farm laws n enactment of law on MSP. Meanwhile the prime minister Narendra Modi has congratulated her by tweeting: Birthday Greetings to Sonia Gandhiji. May God bless her with a long n healthy life. The union minister Nitin Gadkari too extended his greetings to Congress president Sonia Gandhi through a tweet writing : Birthday Greetings to the president of the Indian National Congress Party SMT.
