“No trouser tube ride” baffles commuters in London | Etrending News

The Elizabeth tube ride in London perplexed commuters when they saw fellow passengers without trousers. Yes… you heard it right.

Londoners celebrated the 12th annual ‘no trouser tube‘ day after a gap of three years. Hundreds of people participated in the event organized by the ‘stiff upper lip society.’

The stunt was first started in New York in 2002 with the name ‘no pants subway ride’ and has since been celebrated annually across different countries. The basic idea is to wear only the suit’s upper half or clothing and underwear at the bottom. The everyday chores shall appear normal, and the clothing shall not piss anybody off. The concept is to make people laugh and smile, not to hurt someone’s feelings. According to Ivan Markovic, the event organizer, the moot point is to make everything look realistic on a normal day. There is no agenda of raising money or making any statement. It is only for fun purposes, uniquely spreading positivity. The event organizers had given instructions on a Facebook post regarding dos and don’ts. All interested were asked to collect at a particular location, remove their trousers/skirts and move into the tube as a normal person. It is worth mentioning that no membership was required to participate. Anybody could have participated, don’t wear trousers and go for daily business.

The social media pictures show Londoners riding the underground tube, taking tickets at vending machines, using escalators without trousers, and just partially dressed.

The unique thing witnessed is participation by non-Britishers, too; only around 40 percent were brits. About 50 percent of the participants appeared to be female. As per London organizers, last time, 200 persons participated; this year, the number has gone quite high.

The stiff upper lip society organized an after-party in Soho.
