How is NewsGPT Bad in the World of Journalism?

NewsGPT, considered the world’s first Artificial Intelligence generated news website, has been working against the strict codes of journalistic conduct since day one. News channels, for Far too long, have been subjected to selective and biased reporting. The CEO of NewsGPT, Alan Levy, talked about his motivation to launch a news channel completely operated by artificial Intelligence.

Unlike conventional news channels, news on this portal is not influenced by any forms of advertisers, personal opinions, political affiliations, or any other forms of hindrances that are caused due to errors in human judgement. Even though the intentions behind this brainchild are considered Noble by many people, the approach that has been taken could potentially be disastrous.

Interestingly, NewsGPT has not released much information about its operation besides using a combination of artificial intelligence programs. However, taking hints from the name, NewsGPT could potentially operate upon a virgin of OpenAI’s GPT LLM (Large Language Models). ChatGPT, another popular chatbot by OpenAI, is known to operate upon the GPT3.5 architecture.

On more than one occasion, many experts in artificial intelligence have stated that the LLMs at their current stages are hallucinatory at best. When ChatGPT was tossed into the spotlight, Sam Altman, one of the co-founders of OpenAI, stated that it would be a mistake to rely on the software for anything important currently. He stated that this is still a preview of what can be achieved, but much work still needs to be done on its truthfulness and strengths.

Another export named Yan LeCun, the chief artificial intelligence scientist at Meta discussed the same problem. According to him, these artificial intelligence models do not possess knowledge of the world around them. He explained in detail that given that these models do not have any idea of physical reality, they do not possess any context and cannot find their answers accurately.
