Heavy snowfall at Kedarnath, to close on 16 th November

Heavy snowfall has commenced at Kedarnath and Chamoli district of Garhwal with tourists and pilgrims at the historic temple enjoying the snowfall with majority of them going indoors at Dharamshalas, tourist guest houses n hotels at Kedarnath vicinity with hurried tourists having Darshans of Lord Shiva at the high altitude of 11, 750 feet above sea level.

The senior citizen pilgrims are real problems after the heavy snowfall, the second snowfall in this season. It started since yesterday night.

The two inches heavy snowfall has literally led tourists n pilgrims going indoors with the entire ongoing construction works n other activities also coming to standstill with the roofs of the surrounding buildings covered with layers of snow and taps water n natural springs being freezed. However, the young tourists n pilgrims are enjoying the snowfall.

The doors of the Kedarnath Temple will close from 16th November on Bhayya Duj festival whereas historic Badrinath Temple on 19th November at 3.35 PM. The Yamunotri and Gangotri temples will close on 16th n 15th November respectively.

Even the flowing rivers of Uttarakhand emanating from Gangotri have started freezing with natural water resources at several places also freezing.

The snow has started freezing on the mountains of Adharshila, Tungnath, n Madhyeshwar and high altitude himalayan ranges of Munshyari viz Panchachuli, Rajbhanga, Hasling, Nanda Devi, Nagni Dhura and the adjoining areas with heavy rainfall and snowfall. Pilgrims at Kedarnath under heavy snowfall are having Baba Kedar’s obiesance by lining up in long queues. The wild animals like leopards, bears etc also seek refuge inside caves during snowfall at high altitude areas.
