Eminent Congressman and leader of the poor Ramesh Dutta is no more

I am deeply shocked and  grieved to learn about the sad demise of a seniormost Congressman, leader of the masses, especially the poor and down troddens, 9 time Councillor from Minto Road constituency and former deputy mayor, Ramesh Dutta also, popularly known as Daddy by his well wishers n workers, who breathed his last yesterday at Batra Hospital at the age of 75 after having fallen ill due to his old age and two severe cardiac surgeries.

Ramesh Dutta was a true fighter for the poor n down troddens against injustice whose entire life was dedicated in the service of the people of the lowest ebb of the society.

Also the chief organisor of Nehru Brigade, a staunch dedicated Congressman Ramesh Dutta, never married and lived a life of a bachelor with his ailing old mother in a Minto Road modest house leading a simple life as a true leader of the poor n downtrodden masses.

He was a popular leader who never aspired for wealth and property but ran several families of the poor Congress workers n commoners who worked for him in demonstrations against injustice and reception of the senior Congress leaders n party functions.

He was personally lauded by late PMs Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Narsimha Rao, Sonia, Rahul n Priyanka Gandhi for his selfless service to the party and people, throughout his life as a selfless Congress party’s ambassador.

A pauper despite holding councillorship and the important post of Deputy mayor Ramesh Dutta was also the charming boy of super star and New Delhi MP Rajesh Khanna for whom  this selfless leader worked immensely hard and relentlessly during his two consecutive elections from elite parliamentary constituency against towering BJP leader L. K Advani n Bollywod actor Shatrughan Sinha.

Ramesh Dutta’s sad demise is a huge loss to not only the Congress party but to those poor people as well who always acknowledged his blessings n support as Daddy. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti
