A young man died after falling into a sever drain in Vikas Marg near Lakshmi Nagar in Delhi

A young man today died near Lakshmi Nagar, Shakarpur on Vikas Marg in trans Yamuna area, East Delhi due to the utter negligence of the civic authorities or Delhi Jal Board, after he fell down inside a deep sever drain as there was no cover on it sending shock waves in entire Lakshmi Nagar Shakarpur area.

It is believed that the young man who was going with some work fell into the drain and could not be retrieved out in time due to various complications, having been fully drenched inside the deep drain full of toxic gases. He later on succumbed inside the drain, possibly due to suffocation of toxic gases and grievous injuries.

According to a Delhi State Congress leader Haridutt Sharma this tragedy primarily occured due to the lapse and negligence on the part of the officials of either MCD or Delhi Jal Board who are directly responsible for the loss of precious life of a young man for no fault of his. However, till now it is not clear as to which agency is directly responsible for this huge lapse n negligence.

Dr. Haridutt Sharma n senior Congress leader Vijay Shankar Chaturvedi, while expressing their deepest condolences to the grief stricken family demanded severe legal punitive action against the erring officers and adequate monetary compensation to the bereaved family who’ ve lost an earning member of a family due to the negligence and utter failure of the civic authorities n their senior officers.

It may be recalled that such tragic accidents usually occur in Delhi and various parts of the country due to the utter negligence of the municipal authorities who keep the gutters n sewer drains open resulting in deaths of the commuters including the deaths of sewer cleaners who are never provided with necessary life saving equipments and oxygen cylinders when they go inside deep drains n sewers to clean the silt.

Neither their is any social or financial security of these workers who risk their lives while cleaning sewers dying due to suffocation of highly dangerous toxic gases in deep sewers nor accorded life insurance covers or adequate financial compensation to their bereaved families after their tragic deaths. The government of the day of Delhi ruled by Aam Admi Party and the municipal corporation led by BJP should be extremely serious on this most sensitive issue ensuring safety of Delhi citizens falling prey to such brutal tragedies and ensure complete safety n security of the sewer cleaning workers n staff at all costs to avoid their fatalities while working inside gas chambers called sewers.
