What is “Textationship”? The Meaning behind this Popular Social Media Term

Everybody wants somebody who will stand by their side and never leave them alone. That is, everybody wants the benefits of a relationship without putting in the effort for one. No Strings Attached is an extremely popular concept amongst the GenZ, and it is not uncommon to see youngsters following this trend.

They say that with each generation, life becomes easier. Such does not seem to be the case for GenZ, who are making an already difficult period harsher. The love triangle is no more a triangle but a pentagon, with simple relationship terms expanding to dating expressions such as “situationship”, “benching”, “textationship”, and even “soft launching”.

In the concept of textationship, two individuals are involved in a way where they are available for conversations involving texting, but not real-life meetings. Among Generation Z, this has become a new dating trend. With these kinds of new dating trends like mushrooms, GenZ is now beginning to take over the world of dating, partnerships and companionships. The situations are not becoming rather daunting because people are now beginning to look for anything other than proper commitment in a relationship.

But in a textationship, meeting in the real world is mutually disagreed upon, and strict barricades of only texting between two people exist. This sort of situation begs whether these current dating practices are working on the concept of love or destroying love as we know it.

Among people of all ages, texting is considered more convenient, simple, quick and far better than any other form of communication. Because of this, most of the population has begun to extend their screen times.

When it is rather difficult to arrange dates or catch up with people, textationships come into play, which makes some aspects of a relationship rather convenient.
