Uttarakhand has lost a a renowned author and activist who fought with cancer n Motor Neurone for several years

Uttarakhand has lost an intellectual to the core, a renowned author, a fearless n committed social activist, a literateur, a thinker, relentless struggler and a brilliant organisor, a determined n valiant Uttarakhand activist and above all a fearless fighter with several dreaded ailments for the last eight to ten years namely Trepan Singh Chouhan, sending shock waves in Garhwal n entire Uttarakhand.

Trepan Singh Chouhan was a grass root writer n thinker with immense grit, determination and perseverence. Hard lucked Trepan Singh Chouhan while struggling with a dreaded disease like cancer for several years, was later on afflicted with incurable motor neurone, the disease with which renowned theoretical physicist Stephen Hawkins was suffering who finally succumbed to this ailment.

Highly reverred amongst his friends n well wishers Trepan Singh Chouhan was popular for his outstanding brilliance and commitment to social causes, outstanding writings and high spirits despite protracted struggle to survive facing extreme challenging situations n circumstances. His contribution to the society is immeasurable as far as his exemplary role despite struggling so hard suffering from two dreaded diseases at a time is concerned.

While suffering from these dreaded diseases Trepan Singh Chouhan not only authored three books on significant subjects but also organised outstanding events like “Shram Ka Samman” ( honour of labor) and “Ghasiyari” ( the women grass cutters) winning tremendous accolades in entire Uttarakhand.

Primarily hailing from Tehri Garhwal , Masters’ of Arts in History from DAV College Dehradun, Chouhan has been a relentless struggler n movement activist in Tehri movement, separate Uttarakhand movement, anti liquor movement, Nainisaar movement, movement against corruption etc.

Author of three important novels namely ” Yamuna ” on Uttarakhand movement, “Hey Bwari” n “Lal Ved” while being ill , Chauhan was suffering from dreaded Motor Neurone disease which his reducing brain muscles swiftly paralying the lower portion of the body.

His body parts below his neck, hands, legs n waist got paralysed making him effectless in acute pain. While he used to work on computer earlier but after getting paralysed, he had no option but to get the matter typed through his friends. A writer with grit n determination he continued writing on his last book Lal Ved finally completing it under horrific circumstances, before he breathed his last.

The entire intellectual and grass root fraternity of Uttarakhand salutes this people centric writer, activist n literateur who dedicated his entire life for the people of grass roots of Uttarakhand n the society.
