UK Sikh MP Tweets on Manhunt of Amritpal Singh

The Sikh labour MP in Britain, Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, drew integration after he was found expressing his concern over the arrest of the Khalistani elements and the suspending of all mobile and internet services for an unspecified period in the state of Punjab.

Tanmanjeet, a turbaned Sikh hailing from Slough, stated on Twitter that there had been multiple reports of concern coming from India about the imposition of an Internet blackout in the state of Punjab alongside arrests of huge magnitudes and restrictions on gatherings.

He further extended his concerns and prayers while stating that, hopefully, this situation will be resolved soon enough and that the human rights of all people are respected and upheld.

A spokesperson from Congress, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, the senior advocate, proceeded to berate Dhesi for allegedly nurturing Khalistani sentiments in the United Kingdom and that his tweet be fetching him any new votes from Slough given that it has a massive chunk of the population which supports Pakistan.

Dhesi Tweeted about this soon after Punjab Police were looking for a radicalised Sikh preacher going by Amritpal Singh as the authorities proceeded to halt all mobile and internet services in Punjab and arrested approximately 112 of his supporters. According to the police, The Man Hunt is active, and the overall situation is still under control; however, the citizens are requested not to believe the rumours flying around.

An official spokesperson from Punjab Police further stated that Amritpal Singh arrest has not been possible at the moment, that he is still a wanted fugitive and on the Run and that efforts are being made to bring him into police custody.

Amritpal Singh rose to huge prominence over recent months due to his demands for the creation of Khalistan, a separate Homeland for the Sikh people, and his extremist interpretation of Sikhism at Rallies in the rural areas of Punjab.

The arrest of the supporters of Amritpal Singh triggered massive protests from pro-Khalistani supporters within the United Kingdom, with one incident stating that a group of these people were trying to tear down the national flag of India that was flying on the top of its mission in London. The officials at the Indian high commission immediately thought it was the attack and threw away the Khalistani flag that these particular protesters were trying to replace it with. Later on, they stated that the attempted attack had been foiled and that the Indian flag was back in its place.
