Thousands adieu farewell to their leader Ahmed Patel in Bharuch Gujarat in Rahul’s presence
The senior Congress leader, Rajya Sabha MP, former treasurer and trouble shooter of Congress who remained the political secretary to Congress president Sonia Gandhi for more than seventeen long years, never aspiring for being a union minister, despite several offers, and a most faithful comrade during his political career ranging four n a half decade, Ahmed Patel has been accorded the final adieu by his thousands of well wishers, followers, friends n partymen at his native place Bharuch in Gujarat from where he got elected Lok Sabha MP after the end of emergency in 1977 against massive Janata Party wave, when even the then prime minister Indira Gandhi had lost the election.
Anguished Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was also present to bid his last and final good bye to a loyal family member n a political advisor Ahmed bhai, in adition to many senior leaders of Gujarat. His large number of followers and family members including party workers n leaders were in grief while giving him a final see off to the eternal journey he has started for never to come back again.
The mortal remains of the popular leader of Congress who had worked in close proximity with late Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi n even Dr. Msnmohan Singh PM as an advisor n a bridge between Sonia Gandhi n Dr. Manmohan while he was PM for a decade and even Narsimha Rao were brought to his native place Bharuch on Wednesday evening with his son Faisal n daughter n other family members accompanying it.
The senior Congress leader termed as the Chanakya or the trouble shooter of Congress always standing rock solid with the Gandhi family for more than four decades Ahmed Patel was a soft spoken, affable natured politician n incredible secularist , with top connections always believing in finalising strategies peacefully during the thick n thin of the Gandhi family and the Congress.
He met his sad n tragic end at the age of 71 after contracting dreaded Covid 19 leading to multi organ failure while admitted in Medanta Hospital Gurugram battling for a month to regain life but unfortunately all in vain.
Three times Lok Sabha MP n five times RS MP from Gujarat Ahmed Patel was elected a councillor for the first time from Bharuch, Gujarat at the mere age of 25 who was picked by Indira Gandhi n given ticket in 1977 from Bharuch whoch Patel win against the Janata Party wave. after Indiraji’s assasination the then Prime minister Rajiv Gandhi appointed him as his first parliamentary secretary wuth Arun Singh etc. He never looked back thereafter and served the Gandhi family n Congress with utter faithfulness for 4 n a half decades till his last. RIP.
