The coveted Padma Shree n Arjuna Awards’ recipient including winner of several significant gold medals in various international shooting events bringing extraordinary prestige n name for the nation 44 year old Jaspal Rana was today bestowed with another most coveted DRONACHARYA AWARD at Vigyan Bhawan at the hands of President of India Ramnath Kovind in the presence of a cheerful audience.
After receiving the prestigious DRONACHARYA award for rendering outstanding training to various shining shooters who bagged number of gold medals for the country raising our head high globally in various international shooting competitions viz Manubaker, Sarah Choudhary, Aneesh, Arjun Cheema n several others including his daughter Devanshi Rana, jubilant Jaspal Rana tweeted : Anything is possible when you have right people there to support you with a joint photograph of his along with his shooter daughter Devanshi n son holding the DRONACHARYA Award citation.
Jaspal Rana inspired n motivated by his father Narayan Singh Rana, president of Uttarakhand Rifle Association n former minister of Uttarakhand dedicated his life’s two n a half decades to shooting exhibiting his exemplary performance in various international competitions winning several gold medals for the country.
WINNER of his first Gold medal in the Asian Games in Heroshima, Japan in 1994 raising country’s flag high Jaspal Rana equalled the world record by aggregating 590 points after winning Gold medals in 25 metres standard Pistol n 25 metres Centre Fire Pistol events at the 2006 Asian Games on 7 th n 8th December in 2006.
He is also credited for winning another Gold medal in 2006 in Men’s 25 metres Centre Fire Pistol ( Pairs) with Danresh Jung in the Common Wealth Games. Jaspal Rana was thereafter in 1994 just at the age of 18 years bestowed with the second highest sports recognition called ARJUNA AWARD followed by coveted Padma Shree honour by president of India.
Thereafter Mother Teresa also awarded Jaspal Rana with another prestigious National Citizen Award followed by several other significant recognitions.
The two outstanding shooters trained by Jaspal Rana namely Manu Baker n Saurabh Choudhary too have been bestowed with Arjuna Awards’ by president Ramnath Kovind. On receiving the DRONACHARYA AWARD Jaspal Rana while expressing his immense gratitude said that : What can be the prouder moment than this.
This award doesn’t belong to me or an individual but to the entire team which has worked alongside me , with dedication n sincerety, the Federation n my students. RANA also thanked the president of India Ram Nath Kovind through a tweet for honouring him with this significant award.
