Prashant Bhushan agrees’ to pay Rupee one to supreme court !

The civil rights lawyer Prashant Bhushan today held a press conference and accepted the punishment of Rupee one imposed on him by the the three judge bench of supreme court to be paid latest by 15 th September while expressing his gratitude to the apex court saying that he never meant to indignify or insult the honourable supreme court or judiciary but reserves the right to go for review of his conviction through the appropriate legal channels.

Addressing a press conference at the Press Club of India premises, today, the popular n controversial supreme court civil rights’ lawyer Prashant Bhushan had few days ago tweeted twice on his Twitter handle also posting the picture of Supreme Court chief justice Mr. Bodbe riding a very expensive motorbike without mask with goggles allegedly casting aspersions on CJI and the functioning of judiciary during the last six months, indignifying them raising lot of controversy in the media.

The supreme court has then taken the suo motto of the case n punished Bhushan taking a lenient view by merely fining him Re one failing which he would invite the imprisonment of four months and stoppage of his legal practice for three consecutive years.

Terming his case to have become a watershed moment for freedom of speech having encouraged many people to stand up n fight against injustices senior advocate Prashant Bhushan said that this issue was never against me versus judges or supreme court.

In my opinion when the supreme court of India wins, it’s the victory of every Indian as every Indian desires for a strong n independent judiciary.

Obviously, if the courts’ get weakened, it weakens the the republic n harms every citizen added Bhushan while addressing the press conference.

Praising the apex court of India advocate Prashant Bhushan said he has tremendous regard for the institution of Supreme court n has always believed that it’s the last bastion of hope, particularly for the weak and the oppressed who knock its door for justice or protection of their rights from a powerful executive.

He clarified that his tweets were never directed against the supreme court or judiciary but mere to express my anguish, at what I felt was a deviation from its sterling past record.

While thanking his well wishers, lawyers, intellectuals, common people, ex judges, activists and fellow citizens Bhushan specifically expressed his gratitude towards senior advocate Rajeev Dhawan n Dushyant Dave for encouraging him, in his fight for freedom of speech , judicial accountability n reforms.
