Met home minister Amit Shah. Held detailed fruitful discussions: Kejrival

Amid worrisome critical situation of incessant surge in Covid 19 cases in Delhi for the last twelve days and several complaints of the serious corona virus patients not being admitted in some government as well as private hospitals even leading to deaths of these patients including revocation of Delhi government’s orders by LG of Delhi Anil Baijal yesterday, the chief minister of Delhi Arvind Kejrival today evening met the union home minister Amit Shah to discuss the prevailing condition of the Delhi situation pertaining to the pandemic Covid 19. After the detailed meeting with the HM Amit Shah, Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival tweeted : Met Shri Amit Shah. Hon’ble HM. Discussed the situation on Corona in Delhi in Detail. He assured of all cooperation.

It may be recalled that Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival had an extremely hectic day today after his two days’ self isolation in view of the mild fever and complaint of sore throat since last Sunday when he chaired the cabinet meeting to unanimously pass the decision on restricting the Delhi’s private as well as the government hospitals to the patients of Covid 19 hailing from other states.

This decision was taken in view of the rapid surge in Covid 19 cases in Delhi and the uncontrollable situation to be confronted in the near future in terms of availability of limited number of beds.

After the revocation of the cabinet decision by the LG, the chief minister had no option but to abide by the former’s order as LG is the constitutional head of Delhi and directly answerable to the president of India since Delhi is not a full fledged state.

The chief minister has even speculated that as per the Delhi government’s estimates – by 31st July, the capital city will have a massive number of cases i.e. 5.5 lakhs and the bednumbers would also go up simultaneously to 1 lakh 50 thousand, which infact is beyond anybody’s expectation.

Sources reveal that is believed, the CM may divulge the important details of his meeting with the union home minister Amit Shah today morning in his usual virtual press conference as to what exactly transpired in the meeting related to the Delhi’s critical Covid 19 situation and the financial support to be acknowleged ( or not) from the centre for financially battered state due to the lockdown of the past seventy days.

It may be recalled that the deputy CM Manish Sisodia had already complained about the centre not giving any money or financial support called disaster or Covid 19 relief fund to the Delhi government, meant for disbursement to states of the country.

Moreover he had also written a letter to the union finance minister Dr. Nirmala Sitaraman seeking worth Rs. 5000 crores as help so as to pay salaries to its employees.

Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has said that due to the low recovery of GST and other taxes in view of the lockdown of more than two months and non delivery of any Covid 19 relief fund to Delhi government the financial condition of Delhi is in immense jeopardy and the central financial assistence of Rs 5000 crises is utmostly essential to pay the employees salaries.
