National Lok Dal chief n MP Jayant Chowdhary n Lok Dal workers lathicharged in Hathras

Today was a bad day for the Rashtriya Lok Dal workers n leaders. The UP police n the PAC deputed in Hathras to maintain law and order badly thrashed several RLD n SP workers including the RLD national president Jayant Chowdhary, MP from Hathras and district president Girish Yadav injuring them.

The RLD workers who had assembled in large numbers are reported to have broken barricades wanting to go to the village of Hathras girl who was allegedly gangraped n subsequently killed with brutal physical injuries.

The police had accorded permission to five persons with Jayant Chowdhary to visit the anguished parents of the girl but all the workers wanted to go. There was quite a scuffle between the police and RLD workers resulting in the police inflicting lathi injuries to several of them.

The Uttar Pradesh police and the PAC seems to have gone berserk and the opposition party leaders and workers who intend to go to Hathras to meet the anguished family of the deceased 19 year old girl are being lathi charged without any provocation injuring several of them during the last four days say political analysts.

Even the mediamen are allegedly not being spared. While the Congress leaders Priyanka and Rahul including several workers were lathi charged on Saturday at the DND flyway in Noida when they were trying to go to Hathras today, the national president of Lok Dal and member of parliament Jayant Choudhary and Lok Dal workers were thrashed badly by lathies injuring several of them giving an unambiguous impression of the police going berserk. In democracy the police has so many other ways to calm the protesters n if need be can be arrested for violating the prohibitory orders say analysts.

But in case of the lathicharge on the Congress n Lok Dal leaders today whose fault was to meet the traumatic n aggrieved family of the deceased Hathras girl is something not only highly uncalled for but unconstitutional as well, injuring several of them.

According to the news reports the national Lok Dal president and MP Jayant Singh alongwith his supporters had come to Hathras to visit the village of the deceased girl n was granted permission for five persons.

Meanwhile while he was speaking to a news reporter n some of his Lok Dal supporters wanted to accompany him, all of a sudden some policemen unprovokingly started beating the Lok Dal president Jayant Chowdhary not caring of the physical injuries he may receive. The workers accompanying him came to his rescue who were also thrashed badly allegedly injuring several of them.

The vedio posted by Jayant Chowdhary on his Twitter handle has become viral in the entire social media exhibiting the unprovoked lathi charge by policemen.

In a tweet Lok Dal’s national president who is the son of former union minister Ajit Singh and grandson of the former prime minister Choudhary Charan Singh has tweeted : If you have the right to inflict lathi blows on us I have the right to stand with my people!
Inflict as much as lathies blows you can on us!
Will meet on 8th in Muzaffar Nagar!

Meanwhile the senior leader of Lok Dal And state president Dr Masood Ahmed has in a statement while condemning the police lathi charge on Lok Dal leader Jayant Chowdary n workers said that the people of the state had elected the pro development government with resounding majority hoping that it will provide employment to the youths but the government has brought the flood of crimes in the state. In every district of the state the crimes related to kidnappings, extortion, rapes n murders are on the rise.

National Lok Dal’s spokesman Anil Dubey has strongly condemned the attack on the Lok Dal’s national president Jayant Chowdhary and urged upon the government to penalise the officers responsible for this act.

It may be recalled that Uttar Pradesh government has already suspended the ADM, SSP n three other policemen for the dereliction of duties in the Hathras gangrape rape n consequent death of the 19 year old Dalit girl leading to nationwide outrage and recommended for the CBI enquiry, despite the anguished family requesting for a Supreme Court judicial probe.
