Harish Rawat’s lunchon diplomacy after breakfast meeting exercise with Sidhu

The national general secretary of Congress, in-charge Punjab Congress affairs n former CM of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat is still continuing his efforts to satisfy every state Congress leader of Punjab who is in confrontation with the chief minister Captain Amrinder Singh and has succeeded in his attempts as well.

While his exercise of reapproachment between the Cricketer turned politician n former Punjab minister Navjyot Sidhu had been fruitful to a great extent after the former attended the Assembly session after several days of his absence and praised the CM Captain Amrinder Singh while speaking on the farm bills criticizing the Modi government, passed by the Punjab assembly, acknowledging the praise from the latter as well.

Rawat even praised Sidhu as a great asset for the Congress assuring to designate him an important responsibility in the state n the centre in the near future comparing him with Rafale. He also said that Sidhu will be the star campaigner who is the massive crowd puller in the state elections due for early next year.

Rawat had personally been to Sidhu’s house obliging him n had breakfast appealing him to go for reapproachment with the chief minister Captain Amrinder Singh as desired by the party high command.

Today, Harish Rawat met another dissident Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab Pratap Bajwa and had detailed deliberations with him.

This lunchon diplomacy with Pratap Bajwa on the lines of Sidhu, to bring about reapproachment between the various warring leaders n factions of Congress in Punjab are fructifying with positive media coverage.

Harish Rawat had met Bajwa at his Chandigarh residence over lunch while Sidhu at Amritsar over breakfast.

Pratap Bajwa is considered as a strong claimant for the post of the Punjab Congress president’s post currently held by Sunil Jakhar who had earlier given a statement in the media about vacating his post in case Sidhu is ready to hold it n strengthen the Congress in view of the fast approaching state election, ceating quite a controversy.

Rajya Sabha MP despite having differences with Captain Amrinder Singh had also shared stage with the latter when Rahul visited Punjab to participate protests against farm bills. Meanwhile it is believed that apart from making resurrecting efforts while meeting Bajwa Harish Rawat also deliberated in detail for two hours regarding the protest demonstrations n dharna programmes to be intitiated on 31st October in Punjab against the anti farm bills of the central government apart from the massive signature campaign launched by the party.

So far about fifteen lakh peasents of Punjab have already signed this anti central government campaign on farm bills. The meeting between Mr. Rawat n MP Pratap Bajwa have been quite fruitful day the reliable sources. It may be recalled that elections are due in Punjab in a year’s time and the Akali Dal have also severed its relations with BJP protesting against the farm bills expressing solidarity with the farming community thus becoming a formidable force in the state.

The intercine squabbles within the Congress party may cost Congress in these incoming state elections. Harish Rawat has therefore been assigned the responsibilty to initiate patch up between various warring factions n leaders in the state which is affected by factionalism. Harish Rawat was earlier the In-charge of Assam but was shifted to Punjab in the recent rejig of the part setup keeping in view his ability to unify state factions in the past as well.

From Day one after assuming the charge of Punjab Congress affairs Harish Rawat became active and met Sidhu first, participated in the anti farm bills tally with Rahul Gandhi n Captain Arvinder Singh n tried to pacify various leaders of the warring factions with the latest attempt meeting MP Bajwa his second exercise pacifying a senior warring leader after Sidhu including holding meetings with part MLAs, ministers n frontal organisation’s chiefs n office bearers etc.

He has been holding meetings with MLAs, office bearers and leaders n workers of the main organisation n frontal units at the decentralised level. Rawat yesterday held a meeting with the chief minister, MLAs n ministers to discuss the farm issues which is the main n burning topic these days in Punjab, the only state having passed farm laws against the farm laws passed by both the houses of Parliament.
