Delhi CM says : 14 days quarantine a must for all those returning from United Kingdom in view of “Strain” risk

In view of the apprehensions of new virus Strain emanating from United Kingdom being 70% more contagious than Covid 19 allegedly posing risks of spread in Delhi and other parts of India, the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejrival has said that all those returning to Delhi from United Kingdom will after testing positive be isolated in an isolation facility.

But those who if even tested negative will also be taken to the quarantine facility for seven days followed by seven days home quaratine.

In a tweet Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival wrote that these important decisions are being taken inorder to protect Delhites from exposure to virus from UK. With the tweet he annexed the order of the chief secretary Vijay Dev who is also the chairman of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority.

In its order, the copies of which have been sent to Chairman, Airport Authority of India, Principal Secretary, Health n family Welfare, DG Bureau of Civil Aviation, Commissioner, Bureau of Immigration, all Additional Secretaries , Secretary NDMC etc , the Delhi government’s chief secretary said that in view of the spread of Covid 19 declared pandemic by WHO globally and detection of the new variant of “SARS-Vo2,” virus detected in United Kingdom, the Delhi government has formally decided that those coming to Delhi from United Kingdom from 8 th January onwards would be subjected to self paid RTPCR test at the Delhi airport on arrival. Those found positive will be isolated in the institutional isolation facility in a separate ISOLATION UNIT as per the existing laid down protocols. The order further added that those who are found negative shall be sent in compulsory institutional quarantine for a period of seven days followed by the seven days of home quarantine.

The order of the chief secretary will be applicable on trial basis for seven days says Delhi chief secretary Vijay Dev.

The order directs all the concerned authorities to implement the government’s instructions in letter and spirits.
