Covid 19 cases reach to 1145 numbers in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand has today witnessed the spurt in sixty Corona virus cases with the total tally going to 1145 numbers as on date.

As per the health bulletin released this afternoon till 2.00 PM sixty cases of Covid 19 were detected in which four cases were of migrants from other states.

So far ten persons have succumbed to Covid 19 infections in the hilly state. There have been 286 recoveries till now , leaving 845 cases as active.

About 33, 942 persons are in various quarantine centres of the state with maximum being those who’ve entered Uttarakhand from other states after the lockdown was relaxed.

According to the bulletin till now 26,093 samples tested have been found negative while results of 6, 920 samples are awaited.

Today 702 tested samples were found negative while total 571 numbers were sent for testing. However four patients were recovered.

According to renowned social activist Anoop Nautiyal Uttarakhand had the backlog of 6800 samples out of 33000 samples while Himachal Pradesh has a backlog of 940 samples out of 40 thousand samples.

This needs to be improved expeditiously particularly in view of surging cases in the hilly region. Though compared to other states of the country Uttarakhand has quite a low infection record but from the state’s point of view and the speedy surge witnessed in cases after exodus in the state after relaxations and comparatively low testing, poor conditions of Quarantine centres, alleged complacense n ignorance towards treatment of Covid 19 patients, some shocking deaths in quarantine centres etc have made the situation even more tensed and worrisome.

The honourable high court of Uttarakhand had twice reprimanded the health authorities of Uttarakhand for their alleged lackadisical approach and issued diections to positively quarantine the persons entering Uttarakhand at border vicinity and improving the deteriorating condition of the quarantine centres especially in view of repeated complaints from persons quarantined here n deaths of some, including a six year old girl in Betalghat, Uttarakhand.

Just two days ago the minister of tourism, irrigation n culture Satpal Maharaj , his former minister n wife Amrita Rawat, sons n daughters in law, relatives, staff and followers totalling to 41 numbers were admitted in AIIMS Rishikesh n quarantined for having been infected with Covid 19 creating quite a sensation in the political circles and in the state. It is believed that after being relieved from hospital just after two days the minister is recuperating at his house under due medical care and monitoring.
