Badrinath Kedarnath Highway blocked due to massive landslides as a result of heavy rains

The incessant heavy rains in various parts of Uttarakhand has created havoc with life of the inhabitants and pilgrims including tourists in great risk due to heavy landslides n falling of boulders etc including over raising of rivers leading to over flooding n immense inconvenience to commuters as well. The main Badrinath Kedarnath highway was reported to have been blocked at several places due to heavy landslides at various points leading to traffic snarls for hours together.

The disaster management authorities, border road organisation n the local police are busy clearing the boulders n landslide rubble in excessive quantam leading to complete stoppage of the traffic movement going to these historic Dhams for obiesance n other works. Due the the excessive rains the local residents n villagers have been directed to vacate their houses to seek refuge at safer places in some villages affected by landslides n heavy rains.

Uttarakhand hills are worst affected during monsoons n there had been incidents of such nature during the month of June as well when Badri Nath Kedarnath highway was blocked due to heavy landslides at various points.

Just few days ago due to heavy rain the Ganges rose 10 centimetres above the danger mark n so the tributary of it namely Henwal river near Rishikesh compelling the local residents to shift their houses to safer places. Several heavy boulders with landslides had fallen at Gudfu n Shivpuri leading to traffic snarls for hours together cleared after a long spell.

There were several incidents of these heavy boulders abruptly falling on the running car smashing it completely beyond repair claiming a life n also grievously injuring. people.

Apart from this incidents of cloud bursts and subsequent destruction to houses with several humans gutted under the silt n rubble of landslides n damages house have been reported last month in Kumaon region of Uttarakhand especially at Munshiyari claiming several lives.

The Gangotri Highway too was blocked two days ago with border road organisation working for hours together to clear the rubble n heavy boulders with heavy machines.
