After 14 protracted yrs Dobra Chanti bridge to be inaugurated on 8th November

The Uttarakhand chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat will on 8th November inaugurate the long awaited quintessential Dobra Chanti bridge that will provide immense convenience to the inhabitants of Tehri Garhwal with the news also emerging that the former chief minister of Uttarakhand n national general secretary of Congress Harish Rawat, state Congress president Pritam Singh and his cohorts not allowed to stay at New Tehri as slogans shouting Tehri Dam evacuees (protestors) today allegedly raised go back Harish Rawat n Pritam Singh slogans in Tehri compelling them to get a safe passage amidst an infuriated crowd accusing them of not helping them and resolving the grievances of the Tehri Dam affected inhabitants while he was the chief minister of Uttarakhand.

Meanwhile the PWD department is busy giving final touches to the newly constructed Dobra Chanti bridge and the venue of the inauguration ceremony by CM Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat on 8th November obviously seeking credit for its hi tech construction awaited by thousands of affected inhabitants of Pratap Nagar, Thauldhar block n villages of Gajna Patti of Tehri Garhwal living on the other side of the lake since the last 14 years.

Dobra Chanti hi tech bridge now complete after protracted 14 years of several ups and downs, providing relief to thousands of residents of Pratap Nagar, Thauldhar block and villages of Gaazna patti, Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, who had to earlier cover a long distance of more than two hundred kilometres due to the absence of this bridge, was initially delayed during the tenure of the then chief minister Narayan Dutt Tiwari, when a contractor was allegedly paid a huge sum of several crores of rupees in advance arbitrarily, with the then opposition political parties especially BJP and one of the Dobra Chanti activists’ Rajeshwar Painuli, a chartered accountant by profession, now in Congress who’d contested from Pratap Nagar constituency as independent candidate twice, accusing the Congress party government of alleged corruption n inefficiency, holding several protest demonstrations etc demanding CBI enquiry into this imbroglio.

During the tenure of the Congress of Vijay Bahuguna and Harish Rawat, the issue was reportedly taken up seriously and the matter pursued further giving some ray of hope with it finally coming into existence after fifteen protracted years during the BJP tenure under the leadership of CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, however, not knowing as to what happened to about 125 crores allgedly paid to the contractor in 2005-6 in advance during the then CM ND Tiwari’s Congress govt’s tenure, with the construction work held up for several years despite umpteen protests by the infuriated n angered Tehri Garhwal inhabitants longing for this bridge for one n a half decade.

Finally, after the construction of this hi tech Dobra Chanti hanging bridge over the Tehri lake to be inaugurated by the chief minister of Uttarakhand, Trivendra Singh Rawat on 8th November ” a day before the 20th anniversary of Uttarakhand formation” benefitting thousands of inhabitants of Pratap Nagar and several villages of Gaajna Patti n Thauldhar block on the other side of the Tehri Lake – now the competition of credit for deriving political mileage between the Congress n BJP has allegedly commenced with both the political parties claiming to have formally expedited the Dobra Chanti construction.

This hi tech long awaited bridge would be able carry vehicles worth of 15 ton weight after the distance of thirty metres. Fully equipped with the traffic control system the bridge will greatly help in monitoring the speed limits of the vehicles passing through it. Built involving the total expenditure of Rs three hundred crores its lightening system costed Rs six crores. The length of the bridge in 725 metres.
