86 year old seniormost Congress leader, ex governor n union minister Sardar Buta Singh is no more

The eight term member of Parliament, former governor, union minister under various prime ministers right from SMT Indira Gandhi’ s tenure to PV Narsimha Rao n Dr. Manmohan Singh as SC ST committee chairman as well, 86 six year old Buta Singh breathed his last today at All India Institute of Medical Sciences being in Coma since the month of October after brain stroke (haemorrhage) .

The news of the sad demise of the towering Congress leader was given by his family. Sardar Buta Singh, veteran Congress leader ,an 8 term MP born in Punjab in 1934 was elected as the first time MP in 1960 with his constituency being Jalore in Rajasthan, a renowned Dalit leader of national stature.

Having worked as union minister of commerce, home , communication, civil supplies, chairman of Sc, ST commission equivalent to the cabinet rank post n governor of Bihar including general secretary of All India Congress Committee, Sardar Buta Singh was a prominent national Dalit leader having served under former PMs Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, PV Narsimha Rao and Dr. Manmohan Singh being extremely close to Indira Gandhi advising her during the Operation Blue star.

The president, Ram Nath Kovind, prime minister Narendra Modi, defence minister Rajnath Singh, Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi including leaders across political spectrum have condoled late veteran leaders sad demise. The last rights of Sardar Buta Singh will be performed at Lodhi Road crematorium.
