Minister Dr. Harak Singh Rawat annoyed after withdrawal of Rs 18 crore budget for construction of asuper speciality hospital in his Kotdwar constituency

The lawmaker from Kotdwar, Pauri Garhwal Uttarakhand and cabinet minister of Environment and forests in Trivendra Singh Rawat’s government Dr. Harak Singh Rawat is considered to be at loggerheads with the chief minister on various issues.

Few months ago he was allegedly divested of the chairmanship of a government’s state body without informing him, amounting to his insult, thus inviting his wrath.

As if this was not enough, this time an 18 crore super speciality hospital proposal, which was to earlier planned to be constructed in his Kotdwar assembly constituency has been surreptitiously withdrawn, again annoying the minister with rebel postures, compelling him to tighten his belts to bring back the fund of 18 crores back into Kotdwar for construction of the earlier planned super speciality ESI hospital, the assurance of which was given by him to his electorates during assembly elections last time.

The minister of environment and forests Dr. Rawat seems to have taken this government’s decision as his personal insult saying that he is an obstinate politician who hardly cares about the possible consequences but would leave no stone unturned to bring back Rs 18 crores to Kotdwar for construction of the hospital for the treatment of the electorates of his constituency as well as of the Jawans of Garhwal Rifles’ whose headquarter is in Lansdowne and who are sacrificing their invaluable lives for the nation.

On the first day of the advent of New Year 2020 while speaking to Hindustan, Dr. Harak Singh Rawat said that he is an extremely Ziddi Mantri, ( obstinate minister). I am least worried of consequences whether I remain the minister or not but will ensure that in wider peoples’ interest this hospital is opened in Kotdwar constituency at all costs.

He added that he will speak to the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, the national security advisor Ajit Doval and the union defence minister Rajnath Singh in this regard and would request them to speak to prime minister Narendra Modi if need be, as construction of a full fledged ESI super speciality hospital in Kotdwar constituency is utmostly essential, especially in view of the Garhwal Rifles’ headquarter situated in Lansdowne, needing it desperately for their treatment from various illnesses.

There is a small hospital for the treatment of Garhwal Rifles’ jawans in Lansdowne where there are no adequate facilities he added.

Even threatening to give up the ministership n MLA’s post Dr. Harak Singh Rawat said that he is least bothered for the political consequences but will fulfill his commitment of constructing a hospital in Kotdwar constituency come what may as he had assured his electorates about this genuine demand during elections.

He had also received a letter from the centre about the provision of one hospital in one district of Uttarakhand he said. Dr. Rawat reminded that when union minister Nitin Gadkari had come to Kotdwar during the assembly election he had promised of fulfilling our demand for construction of a hospital in Kotdwar for the adequate treatment of working class etc. I am only pursuing his wishes to be fulfilled said annoyed Rawat.
