Wild bear attacks two women in Kot block in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand

While the Pauri Garhwal district which had been earlier declared a green zone has registered twenty three cases of dreaded corona virus including the one detected in Kotdwar recently after the Uttarakhandies living in metropolises returned back, the wild bear’s dangerous attack on women folks injuring them grievously is also on the rise creating terror in the Kot block of district Pauri Garhwal.

Sounds traumatic and shocking that on the one hand a green zone district of Pauri Garhwal is registering several cases of deaded Covid 19, especially after the influx of those living oitside the state, the attack of wild bears in a part of this district has become a headache and threat to the administration as well as the inhabitants of Kot development block.

As per the latest information today morning at 8.30 AM, a wild bear has suddenly attacked two women namely Kusumlata and Pinki hailing from village Piplakoti, Kandwalsiun, Kot block in district Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand.

The wild bear pounced on both these women early morning while they were about 100 metres away from their village Piplakoti grievously injuring them. The women however relentlessly fought with the wild bear and successfully got rid of it though seriously injured.

However, the bleeding women were later on ferried to Pauri district hospital after some time where they were rendered best possible treatment and are luckily out of danger now. The villagers in Kot block are in constant fear as these wild bears n even maneater leopards are freely roaming here posing direct threat to the local inhabitants especially children, old aged and women who are usually busy in the agricultural fields in toiling and arranging fodder for the pet animals like cow, buffaloes and goats.

According to a retired lecturer and a renowned social activist Gandhi Singh Negi of Village Kathur there is continuous terror of these maneaters and wild bears in Kot Block who are posing direct threat to the lives of local inhabitants.

Just three months ago the wild bear has attacked several women injuring them grievously. The village women folk have to go to the nearby jungles for arranging fodder and grass for the domestic animals and are extremely vulnerable as these maneater wild bears n even leopards are posing immense threat to their lives.

Mr. Gandhi Singh has urged upon the district magistrate of Pauri Garhwal to immediatey direct the forest officers/ guards to kill these man eaters in order to safeguard the lives of the women and other inhabitants who usually go to jungles daily to arrange grass n fodders for the domestic pets.
