Uttarakhand govt fulfills 2 long pending demands to honour Mahavir Chakra Vijeta Jaswant Singh Rawat

The Uttarakhand government today fulfilled two long awaited demands of the inhabitants of Bironkhal district of Pauri Garhwal to honour a valiant fighter who gave supreme sacrifice for the country battling the nation’s enemy ferociously confronting them with tremendous valour, single handedly.

Paying its richest tributes to the winner of the 2nd highest award of the country for supreme bravery, Mahavir Chakra , posthumously, brave heart dare devil and the pride of India and Uttarakhand Lance Naik Jaswant Singh Rawat who single handedly killed three hundred Chinese soldiers in the war of Nurarang, Arunachal Pradesh in 1962 finally sacrificing his precious life at the age of mere 23, the government of Uttarakhand has made two important official announcements today. One : Granting of official recognition to the annual fair organised at Bironkhal, Pauri Garhwal in the name of Mahavir Chakra recipient Jaswant Singh Rawat as Rajkiya Mela and ( Two) grant of monetary sanction for the construction of of SHAHEED SMARAK as well as a play ground at Jaswant Singh’s ancestral village Village, situated at Bironkhal development block in Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand.

It was in this very village that this dare devil brave heart Jaswant Singh Rawat was born who achieved martydom valiantly fighting the enemy forces in 1962 Indo China war single handedly killing 300 Chinese soldiers. The Uttarakhand chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said, these two official declarations were made in honour of brave heart n nation’s pride Jaswant Singh Rawat for his supreme sacrifices at the age of mere 23.

It may be recalled that Mahavir Chakra, the second highest gallantry award winner Jaswant Singh Rawat, bestowed on him posthumously for his outstanding courage n bravery who killed three hundred Chinese soldiers singlehandedly with two other Garhwal Rifles’ brave soldiers, one Negi n other Gusain, died while fighting, were ordered to leave their posts in view of the harshest of the tragedies ( losing good number of Indian soldiers at the hands of Chinese) in this Nururang, Arunachal Pradesh war of 1962.

While all left their bunkers n positions, twenty three year old Rawat n two of his compatriots refused saying that they will fight the enemies till the end n the fight continued.

Changing his positions n gunning the enemies from different directions Rawat clandestinely went into the Chinese bunker n changed their machine guns direction towards the Chinese soldiers bravely, killing three hundred of them n finally his head cut by the enemies n taken with them.

It is said that the Chinese later on presented a bronze head of Jaswant Rawat to Indian government praising his valour n supreme sacrifice killing umpteen number of Chinese soldiers, recommending to Indian government for the highest gallantry award.
