Three dead, several houses swept away, five grievously injured n some missing in Pithoragarh cloud bursts’ calamity

Three persons have died and seven are reported to be missing due to the dreaded cloud burst incidents and heavy rain including massive landslides in several villages of Tehsil Bangapani in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand on Monday.

THE STATE DISASTER MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY, POLICE and other rescue agencies were geared up to take out the dead bodies n injureds from under the rubble.

The chief minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat has expressed his deepest condolences on this tragedy n has issued urgent instructions to the district magistrates, police n health authorities to carryout urgent rescue operations n necessary treatment to to the injured including delivery of adequate relief materials n the financial compensation to the bereaved n hapless families n those affected by this natural disaster.

The authorities had retrieved the dead bodies n those injured n admitted them to the hospitals on extreme priority basis say the news reports.

THE GOVERNOR OF Uttarakhand Baby Rani Maurya also expressed her grief over the tragic deaths n disapearence of seven persons in various villages of Tehsil Bangapani in district Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand due to cloud bursts n excessive rain leading to massive landslides n assured the distressed families of every governmental support n help.

Similarly the Uttarakhand speaker Prem Aggarwal have also expressed his shock n grief over the tragedy in Pithoragarh and assured of all possible help from the government to the distressed families affected by this natural disasters.

It may be recalled that the excessive rain fall which is still going on in Pithoragarh district n adjoining areas of Munshiyari, Uttarakhand has resulted in cloud burst incidents leading to heavy landslides n total damage to properties with three deaths n five grievous injuries including seven persons missing.

Several houses in the Taanga village have been completely ravaged, gutted and swept away due to landslides n excessive gushing water on account of clod bursts.

The Uttarakhand CM has directed the district magistrates of all the district’s to be alert n attentive 24×7 n make all the emergency arrangements of relief requisitions for emergency use during such calamities in order to provide all financial, material , medical n other support to the suffering populace. He also ordered to sanction adequate financial support to all the districts and asked the disaster management authorities n police officers to be in regular contact n coordination with the district magistrates of Garhwal n Kumaon regions.

He also directed the DM’s to acquaint the people of the meteorological predictions regarding rains n other natural calamities so as to encourage them to exercise necessary precautions of their safety n security in the eventuality of any mishappenings etc.
