“Tandav” producers seek public apology after BJP’s outrage for indignifying Hindu God. Mayawati too wants its objectionable scenes removed

The producers of controversial web series TANDAV being screened by AMAZON on OTT are in a real fix , inviting tremendous outrage finally compelling its India head for original content Aparna Purohit, series director Abbas Ali, producer Himanshu Krishna Mehta, author Gautam Solanki n others against whom FIR has been lodged in Lucknow, seeking unconditional public apologies saying that they did not at all intend to hurt the religious sentiments or beliefs of any community on religion or caste, taking due cognizance of the societal and political opposition especially the Bhartiya Janata Party.

Apart from this some film critics do say that after the OTT platform commenced exhibiting movies reaching the maximum households entertaining them to the hilt during the pandemic lockdown n thereafter there have been scenes of using unparliamentary n abusive dialogues in some movies putting wrong impression in the minds of children especially when OTT films are viewed with the entire family sitting in front of television sets.

Tandav featuring popular Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan has now despite being quite popular has come into controversy with the Bhartiya Janata Party leaders n workers objecting to insult of Hindi Gods, amounting to their open indignation and creating enmity amongst various sects etc.

Apart from the BJP leaders like the media advisor to Uttar Pradesh chief minister Shalabhmani Tripathi and Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra ordering inquiry to initiate legal action against the producers of Tandav, including warning to pay a heavy price for insulting Hindu Gods, even the Bahujan Samaj Party supremo n former CM of Uttar Pradesh Behan Mayawati has emphasised on removal of the objectionable scenes from the web series in view of the enhancing protests for hurting religious sentiments of the majority community.

There have even been calls to boycott the web series of TANDAV with BJP lawmaker of Maharashtra sending notice to Amazon to withdraw the show as per his tweet. The FIR filed in Lucknow under sections 153 A, 295, 505 (1) B, and 479 of IPC for indignifying the Hindu God, hurting religious sentiments of the majority community, creating enmity within different ethnic groups on religious lines n forgery etc has indeed put the Amazon and the web series entire team in immense jeopardy compelling them to seek unconditional public apology.

In the past too there had been such controversies pertaining to hurting peoples’ pride and religious sentiments with eminent Bollywood producer of “Padmavati” Mr. Bansali facing rough weather for a protracted time from various Rajput organisations complaining about showing their revered queen into bad light amounting to indignifying her reputation and image.

Tandav, now in controversies has been created by Abbas Ali with leading Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia Khanna, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub, Sunil Grover, Dinoo Morea, Anup Soni, the crime petrol fame, Uttarakhand’s prominent actress Maju Bahuguna and several others television stars acting in it.
