Two Cows killed by a leopard in Dhangli Gaon, Jahrikhal lansdowne. Cages fitted to capture maneater

The Lansdowne assembly constituency Jeherikhal area’s Dhangli villagers and the inhabitants of surrounding villages are these days in the state of total insecurity as the maneaters ( leopards) have let loose their terror posing direct threat to the human lives especially children and senior citizens and domestic animals like cows, buffaloes and goats etc.

Just yesterday a maneater after damaging the cowshed brutally killed two cows in Dhangli village of Jaherikhal in lansdowne represented by lawmaker Dileep Singh Rawat of Bhartiya Janata Party.

During the past few months there have been several attacks and human kills by the predators in this area under the jurisdiction of Pauri Garhwal district.

Just a month ago a maneater was found roaming freely in Lansdowne village precints n in proper Lansdowne near offices of Garhwal Rifles including attack on the local inhabitants.

The villagers of Dhanghli in Jehrikhal area are extremely furious and angered against the wild life department complaining about their non cooperation to fix iron cages to catch the maneater leopards especially after the recent killing of two cows after ransacking of cow sheds during night hours, despite their repeated complaints.

The villagers are deadly angered and infuriated against their block heads, member of the legislative assembly and even the chief minister complaining about their non fulfilment of certain demands like construction of roads to their village despite repeated requests and the existing terror of the maneaters.

An official of the forest department had visited the Dhangli village and was scolded by the infuriated villagers complaining about not attending to their demand of fixing cages to capture the maneaters posing direct threat to their lives and non payment of adequate compensation by the govt on accunt of two cow killed by the leopards. The forest official has assured about fixing cages , deployment of few guards in their village to ensure the safety of the residents, including payment of adequate compensation.

It may be recalled that in Lansdowne several maneaters are on prowl for human flesh and the recent incidents of human and cow killings have deeply shattered the inhabitants finding them in extremely vulnerable position.

In the pics residents of Dhangli village lodging their complaints with the forest official after he visited there to assure of his fullest cooperation n informing about the iron cages being fixed at requisite locations to trap the maneater. He also assured the villagers to depute forest guards in their village to keep regular vigil against the maneater.
