SUICIDE PREVENTION 2020: mental health matters , reach out for help!

World Suicide Prevention Day is marked internationally on 10th September. The day is organized by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) and World Health Organization (WHO) is a co-sponsor of the day. According to WHO, nearly 800 000 people give up on their lives by suicide every year. Furthermore according to stats, for each suicide, there are more than 20 suicide attempts.  Suicides and suicide attempts have a ripple effect that impacts on families, friends, colleagues, communities, and societies.  The aim of this day is to create awareness around the globe to everyone that SUICIDE CAN BE PREVENTED. It is very much important to realize that Life is not static, it keeps on moving. We need to fight this battle of life in hard times. All what we want to evade is pain and not the life. This is  hard for a person to self -imbibe the thoughts all by own,thus one needs love and support from dear ones and professionally as well. Mental Health is a very fragile topic filled with stigmas in the regressive societies with stereotyped perspectives while seeking medical aid, thereby leading people neglect their mental health. 

Suicide is presently perceived as a universal health issue. Suicide rates have been expanding continuously to the degree that it has become one of a significant reasons for death around the world. It is essential to recognize the early admonition signs and factor that can prompt suicides. Amidst the pandemic, globally news have flashed on increase in the suicides amongst people majorly due to financial crisis . Pandemic has surely hit in the lives of everyone but we all are in this together and will come out together with patience and positivity. We can pray for ours and world healing. It is okay to be not okay but it is not okay to end a life when things are not okay. Our lives are not just ours but are rooted with every other person with which have/had a bond. “Life is like a sandwich with Birth as it’s one slice and death as another one. What you put inside the slices is up to you.” Is your sandwich tasty or not? Well it has to be both filled in with ups and downs of life but it does not mean we eat away our lives. We need to relish every flavor in life bravely . Everyone is brave and can reach out for help.

There are several organizations working on to help people tackle all such issues. For instance, iCall is an email and phone based guiding assistance run by Tata Institute of Social Sciences and they offer free administrations with the assistance of a group of qualified and prepared mental health experts.
