Will Sidhu join BJP ?

The political tussle between the Cricketer turned politician with outstanding oratorical skills Navjyot Singh Sidhu and the Punjab chief minister have crossed the saturation point with rumours of his joining the BJP dominating , which is prepared to welcome him in its fold with open arms, especially, after the severing of the saffron ties with the a strong ally of more than 2.5 decades Akali Dal, which was one of the basic reasons, when he severed ties with the saffron party in 2014 in addition to his ” ghor narazgi” ( acute disenchantment) when Arun Jaitley was given ticket from the seat he was desperately interested to contest against Captain Amrinder Singh from Amritsar as the BJP candidate.

According to the news floating in, the betenoire of the saffron party Navjyot Singh Sidhu has almost made up his mind to join BJP as there seems to be no possibility of the reapproachment fructifying between the Punjab Chief minister Captain Amrinder Singh and Sidhu as the former is in no mood to oblige the in-charge of Congress affairs of Punjab n national general secretary Harish Rawat who had tried his best to repair the differences between both the Punjab leaders after personally visiting Sidhu’ s house and having breakfast trying to convince the latter to arrive at the amicable settlement with the Punjab CM. The adamant postures of both Captain Amrinder Singh and Sidhu has surfaced in the open with no signs of reconciliation visible.

Punjab Congress affairs in-charge Harish Rawat had even praised Sidhu by saying that he is a very important asset for the Congress and can be accorded an important responsibilty at the centre if he is not adjusted in the state. He rated him as an invaluable asset for the Congress.

The tussle between Amrinder Singh and Sidhu erupted after his PWD portfolio was snatched from him. In the recently held rally on farm laws in Punjab led by Rahul Gandhi, Sidhu is believed to have publicly spoken against the important Congress leader n Dera Baba Nanak MLA Randhava in the presence of Rahul crossing limits annoying Rahul Gandhi, Harish Rawat n Captain Amrinder Singh with media hype of internal squabble coming to the fore.

There were also alleged reports of Sidhu wanting to become the state president in place of Sunil Jhakar having the backing of Harish Rawat. The internal tussle had further widened when the current state President Sunil Jakhar has offered to resign in anger saying that if a new Punjab President (indicating towards Sidhu) can strengthen the organisation he is ready to resign as the state elections are due for next year creating lots of controversy in the state Congress politics.

Besides this bad mouthing of Sidhu against Randhava in the farm rally in Rahul’s presence and his annoyance for making him sit in a trailer tractor with CM Capt Amrinder Singh and Rahul sitting side by side with Sunil Jakhar state president Jakhar driving the tractor in the rally has also been highlighted in the media further widening the possibility of any future reapproachment.

According to the latest developments the BJP is trying to woo Sidhu in the saffron party fold especially after the Akali Dal’s severing of the political relationship with BJP his one of the prime reasons to leave the party apart from making Arun Jaitley contest from Amritsar snatching his seat. Moreover BJP had been his mother party from where he started his political innings.

There are rumours of the talks going on between him and the BJP chalking out possibilities n conditionalities ensuring his entry in the saffron party by all, considering as a greatest asset as considered by Congress party’s Punjab incharge Harish Rawat as well.

Quoting the former cabinet minister of Punjab and senior BJP leader Master Mohan Lal an “Amar Ujala” news say that the BJP is trying to woo Sidhu join the saffron party n the talks are underway in this context ?

It may be recalled that controversial Sidhu had been a betenoire of Saffron party n even PM Modi in his speeches n social media and had been campaigning extensively in various elections for the Congress party. However, he also invited the wrath of countrymen when he visited Pakistan in the swearing in ceremony of Pak PM n his old friend Imran Khan where he openly embraced the Pak Army chief etc
