Sixteen die including a pilot n co pilot in Kozhikode plane crash

Sixteen passengers including a pilot and a co pilot have been killed in an Air India plane crash at Kozhikode airport in Kerala today when the Air India plane carrying 190 passengers which took off from Dubai Airport cracked vertically after the crash. The Pilot killed in this crash Wing Commander Sathe’s brother was also killed earlier in Kargil war in 1999. Sathe had retired from India Air Force and had joined Air India as it’s pilot. Deseased SATHE’S father is retired Brigadier.

The Air India plane after landing at the Kozhikode Airport got skid in a speed going thirty feet downwards and crashing thus it’s front portion cracking into two pieces killing 15 passengers. About 170 passengers have been evacuated and are luckily safe. This wasn’t the air crash but since the plane skidded due to the air ports squeezed runway and nose dived more than thirty feet downwards cracking into two pieces from the front.

According the latest news about fifty passengers are grievously injured and have been admitted in the nearby Calicut hospitals. Luckily there was no fire or explosion after the accident and this was the reason that 170 passengers could be saved including 50 injureds some of them grievously. The rescue operation is going on and the rubble of the plane is also being cleared by the disaster management team. The accident could have been avoided had the runway been widened.

The prime minister Narendra Modi n union home minister Amit Shah have expressed their deepest condolences towards the bereaved families and spoke to the Kerala CM enquiring about the safety of passengers.

It may be recalled that in 2010 also there was an Air India plane crash that took off from Dubai killing more than 150 passengers. This is a table top airport on height and today’s accident occured due to the plane skidding due to excessive water in the airport. The plane dived twenty to thirty feet doenwards in a gorge breaking from the front side killing sixteen passengers n grievously injuring about fifty. The maximum passengers were injured at the time of planes front portion cracking into two pieces.

According to civil aviation minister about 170 passengers have been admitted in hospitals in Calicut n the entire operation of clearing rubble n retrieving dead bodies n injureds have been completed This was the Vande Matram mission ferrying passengers from abroad said Hardip Puri who also revealed that till now about more than two lakh passengers have been bright to India from Dubai.
