Delhi’s horrific Covid 19 spike leads to HM Amit Shah calling an urgent meeting. Home, health n Delhi chief secretaries meeting today again

The Covid 19 situation in Delhi has become horrific with not only the Covid 19 cases touching new heights crossing eight thousand mark daily the mortalities too are multiply increasing with eighty deaths in a single day two days ago resulting in the union home minister Amit Shah personally intervening and convening a high level meeting on Sunday, deliberating the critical situation threadbare with the union health minister Dr. Harshvardhan, Delhi’s Lt governor Anil Baijal, Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival, senior officials of Noti Ayog, Indian Council of Medical ResearchAIIMS director Mr. guleria and the Delhi Disaster Management authority officials including high officials of the centre. The union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan, home secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Delhi chief secretary Vijay Kumar Dev are holding a meeting on Monday to discuss a detailed strategy on containment Zones in the capital. In the meeting of the home minister number of significant decisions have been initiated to counter the terrible spike in Covid 19 cases in Delhi like enhancing the testing to one lakh numbers on daily basis, enhancing the numbers of ICU beds by additional providing 250 to 300 number of ICU beds in DRDO Dhaula Kuan and more beds with Oxygen facilities in the Chattarpur Covid 19 Hospital running with 10000 bed Covid 19 beds.

According to the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejrival lack of the Intensive Care Unit beds in Delhi is the greatest challenge for Delhi government as after October 20 since the spike in Covid 19 cases Delhi the ICU beds are dwindling. He added that after the assurance of the centre for providing additional 500 ICU beds in DRDO Delhi at Dhaula Kuan and adding about 250 more will help in easing the situation in Delhi in the days to come followed by the decision of the ICMR to do one lakh Covid testings daily. In the meeting with the union home minister Amit Shah it was also decided that the teams of AIIMS and the municipal corporations will conduct house to house surveys in Delhi, testing persons with symptomatic tendencies of Covid and if necessary providing them the necessary treatment. All the tests to be conducted would be RTPCR tests as they are quite genuine, authentic and reliable. In addition to this, the central government has directed the paramilitary hospitals to send paramedical staff n doctors in Delhi hospitals for treatment of Covid 19 patients and has also ordered the hospitals of three MCDs to convert them into Covid 19 hospitals to cope with the spike in Covid 19 cases in Delhi.

The union home minister Amit Shah also advised the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejrival to establish contact with three mayor’s of the Delhi municipal corporations n devise urgent strategies to counter the disturbing pandemic situation of Delhi. The AIIMS director Randeep Singh Guleria and the ICMR head Dr. Balram Bhargawa will be submitting their report to the centre in connection with the plasma donation and provision of plasma to the critical Covid 19 patients in Delhi. Delhi currently has two plasma banks where already treated Covid 19 patients are encouraged to voluntarily donate plasma to save the lives of patients suffering from. Covid 19 especially those in critical conditions. It may be recalled that after October 20 the Covid 19 infections have started increasing in Delhi with cases enhancing tremendously during n after the Dusshehra and Deepawali thronging to celebrations and markets hardly worried about the spread of the pandemic despite governmental restrictions n anti Covid regulations making the situation in Delhi extremely worrisome with rapid n widespread spike in cases.

While at the pan zindia level the Covid 19 cases have ccmounted to more than 88 lakhs in Delhi the total tally has reached to around 485000, with one lakh thirty thousand and 7,614 mortalities respectively.
