Congress gets enough political ammunition after CBI enquiry against CM Rawat

After the Uttarakhand high court’s decision directing the CBI to investigate the alleged corruption charges against the chief minister of Uttarakhand levelled by journalist and proprietor of Samachar Plus news channel Umesh Sharma regarding his being complicit in an illegal gratification allegedly deposited in his relatives’ account and quashing of FIRs against two journalists viz. Samachar Plus’s Umesh Sharma n Parvat Jan’s Shiv Prasad Semwal, it seems that the main opposition party of the state Congress n its leaders have now got enough political ammunition to target their ardent rivals and the saffron party, deriving maximum political advantage out of this episode.

The former CM n president of Uttarakhand Congress n national general secretary Harish Rawat, the newly appointed Pradesh Congress in-charge n central Congress emisary Devendra Yadav, State Congress chief Pritam Singh, leader of the opposition in the assembly n Sr Congress leader Indira Hridayesh etc held a joint press conference in the state and said that the allegations against the chief minister are extremely serious n therefore in the wide interest of the state n bring the truth to light, it’s mandatory that the Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry is conducted immediately.

Quoting the judgement of high court they said that the CBI should immediately lodge an FIR and impartial investigations commenced as the corruption accusations are not only serious but the CM’s reputation is also under absolute suspicion.

The Congress party leaders also demanded immediate resignation of the chief minister n said that if the double engine zero tolerance government has to abide by so called morality, it usually talks about, then the chief minister should immediately resign from his post.

Meanwhile in another press conference Uttarakhand Jansangharsh Morcha also addressed a separate press conference in Dehradun appealing to the governor of Uttarakhand to immediately terminate the chief minister from his post honouring the decision of the honourable high court of institution of the CBI inquiry against the alleged corruption charges levelled against the Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat.

Addressing the separate press conferences in Dehradun the president of Jansangharsh Morcha Raghunath Singh Negi n the Congress leaders Harish Rawat n Pritam Singh alleged that immediate resignation of of the chief minister should be sought on moral grounds in view of the direction of the Uttarakhand high court’s single bench for CBI enquiry against the serious corruption charges against the incumbent chief minister of Uttarakhand to ensure free n fair impartial investigations on the serious charges levelled by a scribe against the CM.

It may be recalled the proprietor of Samachar Plus news channel, journalist Umesh Kumar who was also responsible for the sting operation against the then Congress CM Harish Rawat at Jolly Grant Airport, Rishikesh has accused the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat of his complicity in alleged corruption of getting Rid 25 lakhs in the bank accounts of Harendra Rawat n Savitri Rawat by one Amatresh Chouhan, on the alleged instructions of the Rawat when who was then the observar of Jharkhand state for getting Chouhan appointed as the chairman of Gay Sewa Committee.

It was alleged that Savitri Rawat is the sister of CM’s wife, the charge strongly refuted by both retired professor Harendra Singh Rawat and Savitri Rawat.

According to the version of journalist Umesh Sharma when Mr. Chouhan was not appointed to the said post he disclosed the matter to him n the media with concrete evidences.

The entire proofs viz receipts, deposit slips n documents were produced in the high court though Mr. Harendra Rawat had denied all the charges n documents as fake.

The journalist Umesh Sharma had posted his vedios n other documents in social media n also held press conferences bringing the matter to the notice of journalists getting good coverage.

This rattled professor Harendra Rawat who filed an FIR against him under very serious charges of IPC acts.

Umesh approached the Uttarakhand high court and its single bench justice Maithani has while quashing all the FIR on severe charged has not only quashed the FIR but had also ordered for CBI investigations in the charges of corruption as levelled by Umesh Sharma against the Uttarakhand CM.

Meanwhile according to the latest news Mr. Darshan Singh Rawat the media coordinator to the chief minister said that all the hon’ble high court’s decisions will be duly respected n followed but the state government will file the special leave petition in the Supreme court against this judgement forthwith.

While ordering for the CBI enquiry as per the allegations levelled by Umesh Sharma in para 8 of the petition, the Hon’ble justice Maithani ruled that : This court is of the view that considering the nature of allegations levelled against Trivendra Singh Rawat, the Chief minister of the state, it would be appropriate to unfold the truth. It would be in the interest of the state that the doubts are cleared.

Therefore, while allowing the petition, the court proposes to investigate also say the judgement.

It further adds : In view of the nature of allegations, the Court is of the view that the CBI should be directed to lodge an FIR on the basis of allegations levelled in para 8 of the instant petition and investigate the case in accordance with the law.
