Naresh Bansal of BJP elected unopposed from Uttarakhand to Rajya Sabha

The Bhartiya Janata Party’s candidate for Rajya Sabha from Uttarakhand, Naresh Bansal has been today elected unopposed as there was no candidate from Congress, the party having merely eleven lawmakers as compared to 57 of the saffron party.

The Congress party being in minority has no choice but to keep its nominee away from the fray.

The chief minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat, the BJP state chief Bansi Dhar Bhagat, state agriculture minister Subodh Uniyal , cabinet ministers n BJP lawmakers congratulated the newly elected Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal in Dehradun today.

The term of Rajya Sabha seat held by Congress’s lawmaker Raj Babber is expiring on 9th November who has never been to Uttarakhand or raised voice in the upper house pertaining to the burning issues of the hilly state.

There are three Rajya Sabha seats from Uttarakhand with two seats having gone to BJP n one to Congress.

Former Lok Sabha MP, Pradeep Tamta is from Congress, while the national media chief Anil Baluni and Naresh Bansal are from BJP.

Newly elected Rajya Sabha MP was the Vice chairman of 29 point programme Committee in Uttarakhand.

The name of the former chief minister of Uttarakhand Vijay Bahuguna who’d joined BJP with 11 lawmakers was trying from this seat but was sidelined n Naresh Bansal’s name considered by the BJP high command.
