Manish Sisodia writes to finance minister N. Sitharaman demanding Rs. 5000 crores to pay salaries

The Deputy chief minister who’s also the finance minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia has written to the union finance minister Dr. Nirmala Sitaraman requesting for allocation of Rupees 5 thousand crores to Delhi government so as to enable it pay the salaries to its employees and bear other expences in view of non availabilty of finances due to the dreaded pandemic Covid 19 lockdown of more than two months.

He tweeted in Hindi unamiguously mentioning about the terrible decrease in tax recovery amount to 85% due to lockdown thus unable to pay the salaries to its employees n bearing other expenses Deputy CM Manish Sisodia tweeted : I have written to union finance minister demanding the amount of Rs 5000 crores. Due to the pandemic Covid 19 and lock down, the tax collection of the Delhi government has decreased by 85%.

The central government has not allocated any amount of relief assistence released by it to otherstates of the country.

In another tweet by new agency ANI highlighting the views of the deputy chief minister n finance minister Manish Sisodia, it’s mentioned : We reviewed Delhi govt’s revenue and mini. expences. It needs about Rs 3500 per month to pay salaries and bear office expenses. In the last two months the GST collection was Rs. 500 crore each. Combining that with other sources the government has 1735 crores. We need Rs 7000 crores for two months. Deputy CM”.

In view of acute shortage of finances due to 85% decrease in tax collection and having not acknowledged any amount from central government during Covid 19 lockdown of the last 68 days meant to be allocated to all the states of the country, Delhi’s Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said that the Delhi government desperately requires an immediate release of Rs. 7000 crores for minimum two months in order to pay salaries to its staff and bear other expenses.
