Historic Badrinath shrine opened for devotees today

The doors of historic 1200 year old Lord Badrinath shrine has been opened today early morning at 4.30 AM for general public, amidst chanting of Vedic mantras, for obiesance of devotees from all over the country for the summer season. The doors were opened after systematic prayers as per norms. There were in all eleven persons present at the time of opening of the historic temple viz. Chief priest Rawal, Dharmadhikaari Bhuvan Chandra Uniyal, Raj Guru and others of Temple committee.

The opening ceremony was of low profile with no rush at all in view of the ongoing lockdown due to Covid 19 pandemic. Those present on this ocassion exercised complete social distancing, wore masks and got sanitised as well. The entire temple vicinity was sanitised and colourful flowers decoration executed as done every year. This time there was complete peace and silence due to negligible presence. In 2019 about 12.50 lakh devotees visited this shrine to seek Lord Badrinath’s blessings from all over the country and globe. The temple authorities had predicted the visit of 20 lakh devotees this year but due to the deadly pandemic and subsequent lockdown the targeted numbers of the visit would obviously go down, drastically.
