Delhi govt reduces RT PCR test to Rs 800 from Rs 2400

The government of national capital territory of Delhi has reduced the rates of Covid 19 tests from Rs. 2500 to Rs. 800 in the private laboratories to lessen financial burden of Delhi patients, especially those hailing from the poorest sections of the society and lower middle class. However, in Delhi government hospitals the Covid 19 RT PCR testing is free of cost for one and all, whosoever, want to get them tested for Covid 19. The chief minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejrival has announced today regarding this decision after tweeting : I have directed that the rates of RT PCR tests be reduced in Delhi. Whereas tests are being conducted free of cost in government establishments, however , this will help those who get their tests done in private labs tweeted Kejrival. The Delhi health minister while responding to CM Kejrival’s tweet wrote: Sir, We will issue orders immediately.

As per the Delhi government’s order signed by Vikram Dev Dutt principal Secretary Health n Family Welfare, Govt of NCT of Delhi, the rates of RT PCR have been reduced to Rs 800 for those who will go to the Private labs themselves for Covid 19 testing but Rs. 1200 for those who couldn’t go to private labs themselves and ask their attendant to visit their homes for testing. This total cost of Rs 1200 includes samples that are collected through home visits ( including all charges, visit, sample collection n testing cost.

It may be recalled that in Delhi the total Covid 19 tally is 5 lakh 67 thousand with 9 thousand 66 fatalities.
