Ten infants die in a fire in Bhandara hospital, Maharashtra, 7 infants rescued

There is a news of a most worrisome tragedy that has occured in Maharashtra on Saturday afternoon. At least ten infants of few months of age have succumbed to a massive fire broken out in a government hospital of sick children, in Bhandara, Maharashtra, the reason of which has yet to be ascertained with the chief minister Udhav Thakrey ordering a high level inquiry to ascertain the exact reason behind this huge tragedy.

About seven to 14 children are reported to have been rescued by the hospital staff and the fire brigade officials who rushed to the tragic scene after some time to dodge the massive fire. The fire occured at the wee hours at 2.00 AM said the news reports.

According to the latest news the infants have been immolated in the tragic fire which is being allegedly speculated as a short circuit though nothing has been exactly ascertained till yet, as to what could be the concrete reason behind the fire, engulfing the hospital, killing ten infants. There is also a report about a Covid 19 patient dying in this tragic fire.

The Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh alongwith the DGP Maharashtra has rushed to the accident spot i.e. the burned hospital immediately after hearing the tragic news.

The president Ram Nath Kovind, prime minister Narendra Modi, Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, union home minister Amit Shah, Congress leader and former president Rahul Gandhi, union minister Nitin Gadkari have expressed their anguish and deepest condolences over this mishappening and tragic deaths of the infants in Bhandara hospital of sick infants, praying for granting peace to the departed pious souls. President Kovind tweeted : I am deeply anguished over the tragic untimely deaths of the infants in a hospital fire in Bhandara. My heartfelt deepest condolences to the bereaved families who’ve lost their infants in this heart wrenching tragedy tweeted President Kovind. Prime minister Narendra Modi terming this incident as aheart wrenching in Bhandara has tweeted: Heartwrenching tragedy in Bhandara, Maharashtra, where we’ve lost precious young lives. My thoughts are with all the bereaved families. I hope the injured recover as early as possible. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted: The unfortunate incident of tragic fire in Bhandara is extremely tragic. Expressing his deepest condolences to the bereaved families he urged the Maharashtra government to provide the families of the injured and deceased all possible assistance.

The Maharashtra government has announced an ex gratia of Rs five lakhs to the bereaved familes of the new born babies who succumbed to this tragic fire.
