Stop the flow of wrong information: Here’s how you can cut the chain of the false corona information

The internet is flooding with information related to coronavirus like anything, but it is having more of misinformation than the correct information. These rumours can be malignant too. So it’s better not be a part of this evil act. To keep your news sanitized, it is wiser to believe the facts and figures coming from an authorized platform. Here are the ways in which you can hinder the transmission of these falsies.

  • Pause and Play

Whenever you receive any informational messages on your WhatsApp or email or maybe in the DMs, you quickly forward them by being a part of the chain. It is a great thing to keep the people around you updated, but how do you know that the message you just sent wasn’t a rumour? The experts say that you should introspect it first and then press the send button. So always pause and think.

  • Rely upon reliable sources

It is not good to believe anything blindly, especially when the entire nation is at stake.  The sources like “my best friend” or “my eldest uncle” aren’t reliable because they have also blindly forwarded it without analyzing the real picture behind that data or detail. Many home remedies are being circulated over WhatsApp groups. They offer to be a promising medication for the virus. Well, these remedies are not supported by the World Health Organisation (WHO), so they should not be followed. It can cause severe side effects.

  • Visuals can be deceptive

Often what we see is not what it is. Same goes with the visuals on the web. In this era of technology, even fake news can look legal and authorized. You may think of it as a legal notice from the government body, but sometimes it’s just the result of the Photoshop skills that are actually misused. If anything looks shady, then it’s better to surf the official website.

  • If it looks fishy, then it might be..!!

In case you are sensing that this message is fake or the data here is not accurate, then you should ‘never’ share it. It can cause you a lot of trouble. In this case, you would be doing more harm than good.

  • Check the data beforehand

Never skip the reconfirmation of the facts and figures before sending it to other people. Italy had witnessed a lot of fake news circulated over WhatsApp related to coronavirus. The information that you think as another update might just be a hoax spread out by some teenager.

  • Think twice before sharing the anxious video messages

Extreme emotions like anger and anxiety are aroused during these sorts of severity. Your one share can cause the nation something big. So it’s better to cut the chain than repenting afterwards.

  • Be practical

Many religious practitioners are misusing this situation in the name of religion. They are trying to take control of the situation in the mythical and impractical ways. So, you should rethink what they are asking us to do. It’s high time that we all become practical and leave behind unreasonable beliefs.
