Rising from humble beginnings, you made India proud, writes PM to Dhoni

RISING from humble beginnings in a small town, you burst on to a national scene, made a name for yourself and most importantly, made India proud. Your rise n conduct thereafter gives strength and inspiration to crores of youngsters who like you have not been to cushy schools or colleges, neither do they belong to the illustrious families but they have the talent to distinguish themselves at the highest levels.
Where we come from does not matter as long as we know where we are headed – this is the spirit that you have exuded n inspired many youngsters with.

These are the beautiful sentences mentioned by prime minister Narendra Modi in his two page congratulatory letter sent to the Indian Cricket team Captain n winner of two world cups who’d recently announced his retirement through a brief vedio on India’s Independence day, 15th August termed by Modi as Dhoni’s trademark unassuming style to acquaint the 130 crore Indians about his decision to retire disappointing them though they were also eternally grateful for all that he has done for Indian cricket in the last decade and a half.


Feeling extremely elated n amazed eminent cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni posted this congratulatory letter of prime minister Narendra Modi on his Twitter handle thanking him for boosting his morale tweeting: An artist, soldier and sportsperson, what they crave is for appreciation, that their hard work and sacrifice is getting noticed and appreciated by everyone. Thanks PM Narendra Modi for your appreciation and good wishes.

While commending former Indian skipper Mahendra Dhoni to the core prime minister Narendra Modi wrote that your name will go down in the history as being one of the world’s batting greats, amongst the greatest cricketing captains n certainly one of the best wicket keepers the game has seen.

Your dependability in tough situations n your style in finishing matches particularly the 2011 world cup final, will forever be etched in the public memory for generations added PM Modi in his letter.

Also lauding his tremendous outstanding efforts to win another T20 World Cup in 2007 prime minister Narendra Modi writes: Many of your memorable on field moments exemplify a particular generation of Indians. The generation of Indians does not hesitate to take risks n back each other’s abilities even in the toughest situations, seen in the way you took risks many a time in backing little known youngsters to deliver in high pressure situations.

The 2007 T 20 World Cup Finals is a perfect example of this spirit. The prime minister also appreciated him for his association with the armed forces n thinking about their welfare n wellbeing. He also extended his good wishes to his wife n daughter n said without their sacrifice n support nothing would have been possible.
