Rajamouli’s “RRR”: Best Foreign language Film in 2023

The renowned filmmaker Rajamouli after winning the Golden Globe award for his magnum opus RRR has again on the highlights to win the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

The recent tweet from the 28th Critics’ Choice Awards congratulates the renowned filmmaker for his achievement. The recent Twitter post reads, “Congratulations to the cast and crew of @RRRMovie – winners of the #criticschoice Award for Best Foreign Language Film. #CriticsChoiceAwards.”

In the Critic Choice Awards, the movie was in a contest with films like: ‘Argentina 1985’, ‘All Quiet on the Western Front,’ ‘False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths,’ ‘Bardo,’ ‘Decision to Leave’ and ‘Close.’ However, RRR has come off to be the best foreign language movie beating its contending movies.

The ” RRR ” star cast includes NTR, JrRam Charan, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Ray Stevenson, Samuthirakani, Olivia Morris, and Alison Doody. The movie setting centers around the lives of two Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. The movie is based on the deep friendship between the two and the revolutionaries’ fight against the British Raj.

“RRR” is set in the 1920s when the two revolutionaries chose an obscure life to dedicate their lives to in the Indian Freedom Struggle. The undocumented period of the beginning of the 20th century throws a light on society and ordinary people’s lives.

The global blockbuster continued its winning streak to become the Best Foreign Language Film and Best Song for “Naatu Naatu.” The Telugu magnum opus of S.S. Rajamouli was nominated in five categories: Best Picture, Best Foreign Language film, Best Director (Rajamouli), Best Visual Effects (V Srinivas Mohan), and Best Song (‘Naatu Naatu’).

Last month the movie was also shortlisted for Oscar shortlists. Last week, the Telugu blockbuster was included in the BAFTA longlist for the ‘film not in the English language’ category.
