Rahul Gandhi urges Governor to call the Rajasthan Assembly session

There have been volley of questions and attacks on the governor of Rajasthan Kalraj Mishra today, right from the incumbent chief minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot to senior leaders of Congress n supreme Court advocate Kapil Sibal and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi castigating him of working under the central pressure and not convening the Assembly session of Rajasthan to test the majority as claimed by the incumbent CM Ashok Gehlot in view of the ongoing crisis for the last few days particularly after rebel Congress leader Rajesh Pilot n his 19 loyal lawmakers revolted against him.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi came in the forefront after many days pertaining to Rajasthan crisis.

While the Rajasthan’s incumbent CM Ashok Gehlot accused the Rajasthan governor Kalraj Mishra of misusing his constitutional office under the pressure of the central government n not convening the assembly despite the entire cabinet giving its unanimous consent to him yesterday evening the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that it’s an insult to eight crore people of Rajasthan.

CONGRESS leader Rahul Gandhi also asked Governor Kalraj Mishra to convene the assembly session immediately n catagorically said that it’s now amply clear that the BJP is conspiring to topple the duly elected government of Rajasthan. This is an insult to the 8 crore people of Rajasthan.

The former president tweeted in Hindi n here is its English version : The nation is ruled as per the law and the constitution. Governments are constituted and function on the basis of the mandate of people. Now BJP’s conspiracy to topple the Rajasthan government is unambiguous. This is an insult of 8 crore people of Rajasthan. The governor must convene the assembly session in order to enable truth come in front of the country.

MEANWHILE , the senior Congress leader, legal expert n senior advocate of supreme Court Kapil Sibal while casting aspersions on the governor of Rajasthan in his virtual press conference said that he is working as a stooge of the BJP than as the constitutional head of the state.

Kapil Sibal questioned : If governors are going to flout the law and if the courts are not going to accept precedent then why are institutions being set up ? Why did our forefathers founded these institutions Asked Sibal.

He also added that lawyers should give up arguing , take off their robes since high courts are no longer bound by even the constitution bench judgements of the Supreme Court. He said it’s really ironical that Democracy have now acquired a new definition adding that governor do not respect the cabinet’s unanimous recommendation for convening the assembly session, though bound to act on the advise of the council of ministers.

THIS IS against the five judge order of the Supreme Court in the Nabam Tuki case of Arunachal Pradesh. On a question whether the Congress would move to Supreme Court against governor Kalraj Mishra, Kapil Sibal replied: The Congress will take whatever action it will deem fit but what the Rajasthan governor had done is something which is unprecedented.

Today the whole day about hundred lawmakers of Congress n the Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot protested in front of the governor’s house raising slogans demanding justice in the context of the ongoing political crisis in Rajasthan.

THEY REFUSED TO BUDGE from the lawn in governor’s house unless the governor Kalraj Mishra gives them the assurance of calling the assembly session.

The incumbent chief minister too stayed with the MLA for more than five hours accusing the chief minister Kalraj Mishra acting under the pressure of the BJP n central government n serving their ulterior n undemocratic motives.

Ashok Gehlot met n deliberated with the Governor who came out to meet him n the protesting MLAs n urged him to convene the assembly the next day to allow the confidence vote motion to be be moved n close this chapter once for all.

The governor didn’t assured but said that he will have to study all options n wait for the supreme court’s verdict before arriving at the net conclusion.

Meanwhile, Ashok Gehlot welcomed Sachin Pilot to come back into the party’s fold including his loyal MLAs though not assuring of any commitment.
