Press Club of India serving food to the poor and needy since inception of lockdown

While hundreds of non governmental organisations, government agencies, philanthropic organisations and religious groups are busy distributing free lunches and dinners in various states of the country in view of the ongoing pandemic , the reputed journalists body, Press Club of India in New Delhi has been preparing and serving hundreds of delicious food packets and fruits to people in various parts of Delhi through social organisations and NGOs who are given 800 to 1000 food packets daily, since the inception of lockdown on March 3rd, 2020.

According to senior journalist and management committee member of Press Club of India Vijay Shankar Chaturvedi, the Press Club of India which is though, under heavy loss and financial strains due its closedown for the last 42 days in view of the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown, has been incessantly busy in preparing delicious meals and arranging 800 to 1000 food packets n fruits, since inception of lockdown and supplying them to NGOs to be further delivered to the needy poor persons and families in various parts of Delhi.

According to Chaturvedi, today is the 38th day of the food delivery and till now, thousands of people , ( nearly forty thousand ) have been served the meals prepared by the Press Club of India members and dedicated Kitchen staff. It may be recalled that the current president of the Press Club of India is senior journalist Mr. SAHAY and his dedicated team which has been greatly instrumental in not only raising issues pertaining to injustices done against journalists at the pan India level but is also dedicatedly involved in supplying meals to the needy and poor persons in Delhi since the day of the lockdown. Similarly, super star of yesteryears and former MP Rajesh Khanna’s close accquaintance and a staunch fan Vipin Oberoi and his staff, running a food van in Chanakyapuri behind Jesus and Mary College had also been serving food packets to around three to four hundred persons daily since the inception of lockdown quenching the hunger of the hapless labourers and their children.

Hats off to the dedicated members and kitchen staff of Press Club of India and The Treat van situated in Chanakyapuri. This food stall famous for delicious vegetarian and non veg dishes was occassionally visited by super star of yesteryears Rajesh Khanna, while in Delhi, who loved the non veg dishes prepared here. There are numerous pictures of Rajesh Khanna outside the food van The Treat. This food stall was inaugurated by Kaka several years ago. Several interesting visual songs of Kaka’s mesmerising films are exhibited on regular basis from 6.00 PM till late night while the customers enjoy the delicacies. However, these days its closed in view of the lockdown.
