PM to address nation at 8 PM today after interacting with states’ CMs yesterday

The prime minister Narendra Modi will address the nation today at 8.00 PM and this would be his 5th national address during the 54 days lockdown likely to end on 17th May. The information was revealed by the prime minister’s office this morning through a tweet on PMO’s twitter handle. The prime minister Narendra Modi has yesterday interacted with all the chief ministers of various states and union territories of the country in view of the widespread contagious pandemic in India and worsening economy of the country in view of the last 54 days lockdown likely to end on 17th May.

The Prime Minister wanted to elicit the reaction of chief ministers regarding further extension of the lockdown. During the discussions, majority of the chief ministers were in favour of extending the lockdown while some chief ministers wanted to ease relaxations in view of encouraging the sagging status of the degrading economy.

The nation is already witnessing the terrible plight of millions of migrants, labourers and those in private jobs having lost their jobs confronting hunger and unbearable plight with thousands of labourers, their poor and hapless family members and children marching on foot under scorching sun to reach their native places.

Hundreds of working class people had died on the way while marching on foot for days together covering hundreds of kilometres. In addition to this the widespread coronavirus existence at the pan India level has compelled the prime minister Narendra Modi to seek the opinion of all the chief ministers before arriving at any conclusion on 17th May. As per the latest information the Corona virus figures have crossed 70000 cases of Covid infections in India with over 2300 deaths. This is indeed shocking n highly worrisome.
