Maneater attacks a girl in Yamkeshwar block, Lansdowne resident in immense fear
The Pauri Garhwal region of Uttarakhand is in the grip of maneater horror especially the Yamkeshwar block and Lansdowne areas where the predator has let loose its terror these days . Just the other day a maneater leopard had attacked an adolesent girl who was fortunate enough to have been saved though injured. The people around the Yamkeshwar block’s Rainabari Rajsera – Lansdowne connecting walking path under the jurisdiction of Bithyani Gram Panchaayat are extremely terrorised with the forest/ wild life department patrolling this area and keeping a vigilant eye on the movement of the dreaded maneater, particularly after the life taking attempt on a girl on Friday. The terror of the maneater has compelled the inhabitants of Yamkeshwar block n Lansdowne to go indoors n keep their children safe n on alert mode as the predator’s movement, especially in evening hours. The maneater leopard wandering on prowl for human lives has enhanced its movement in several areas of hilling station of Lansdowne viz Subedar Mohalla, Sewayojan karyalaya ( office), Tourist guest house, Garhwal Rifles Solders welfare office etc where inhabitants reside and casually move with their daily chores including the soldiers of Garhwal Rifles. The free movement of the maneater leopard have been witnessed in all these areas after 7 in the evening. According to several local inhabitants the maneater was spotted by them on several days in the residential area of lansdowne who even took away a pet dog from the house on one Gambhir Rawat. According to the village head of the Vidhyani Village Sabha the predator was witnessd inside the nearby bushes when it attacked the girl on Friday. The forest officer Bisht has assured the locals of the departments increased patrolling in Lansdowne and the Bithyani Gram Sabha areas to keep adequate track on the predators movement. The residents are living in the state of fear and insecurity, moving around by keeping an alert eye. The forest department should immediately tranquilise the predator and cage it before it is too late as usually is the case posing direct threat to human lives. In Garhwal and Kumaon regions of Uttarakhand the predators have let loose their terror with several human being killed and grievouly injured with the forest department not proving to be saviours to the humans, despite the hard fact that these dreaded carnivores have come near human settlements posing direct and unambiguous threat to children, women and senior citizens including to youngsters.
