LG revokes earlier order of mandatory 5 day institutional quarantine on Delhi govt ministers’ request

After the strong opposition of the earlier order of the LG of National Capital territory of Delhi Anil Baijal by the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejrival and his deputy Manish Sisodia , his ( Hon’ble LG’s) earlier order of 5 day mandatory institutional quaratine of all the home quarantined, under treatment Covid 19 patients of the capital city has been revoked on Saturday evening after all the Delhi ministers including the CM n his deputy CM requested the LG to give a serious rethink on the issue and cancell it in wider interest of the people of Delhi.

Hon’ble LG’s tweet today after the evening meeting of Delhi Disaster Management authority

The meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority led by the LG Anil Baijal was convened this evening at 5.00 PM after it remained inconclusive in the afternoon attended by the LG, Anil Baijal, CM n Deputy CM Delhi and the officials of DDMA to discuss on the decision of institutional quaratining of those who are currently under home quarantine in Delhi. It may be recalled that more than 850 Covid 19 patients with mild symptoms or asymptmatic are in home quarantine at present.

While strongly opposing this order of LG , the Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival and the deputy CM Manish Sisodia had said that in view of the spiralling number of Covid 19 cases in the capital, admission of the home quarantined patients with mild symptoms of Corona virus in government hospitals or other quarantined centres, the beds to be used by the serious patients of Covid 19 would be occupied by less serious or mild symptoms oriented patients thus making the serious patients lives in quandary.

There were several other logics given in support of their contention like ICMR’s permission already granted to Delhi govt for home quarantine including non feasibility in shifting those at home to Railway train coaches etc in view of several problems during the prevailing summer season etc.

The leuitenant Governor Anil Baijal has agreed to the requests of the Chief minister and Delhi government ministers in the DDMA meeting this evening at 5 PM and revoked his earlier order saying that regarding institutional isolation, only those Covid 19 positive cases which do not require hospitalisation on clinical assesment and do not have adequate facility for home isolation would be required to undergo institutional isolation.

The earlier order mandatory for all the home quarantined patients with mild symptoms have been revoked by the LG Delhi Anil Baijal as asked by the Delhi Chief minister Arvind Kejrival who were worried because the hospitalisation of the home quarantined patients would have affected the treatment of the serious Covid 19 patients as there is already shortages of beds in Delhi hospitals in view of the increasing number of Covid 19 patients on daily basis.

In the last twenty four hours delhi witnessed more than three thousand cases with Delhi number of total Covid 19 cases crossing 43000 patients.
