Human trials of anti Covid vaccine Covaxin candidate begins in AIIMS today

The human trials of the first indigenous anti Covid 19 vaccine candidate COVAXIN has started in the reputed All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi from today with the hope that it comes into effect in the initial months of the next year or at the end of 2020.

Covaxin anti Covid 19 vaccine candidate is a joint initiative of Indian Council of Medical Research and Bharat Biotech international limited enhancing tremendous hopes among the countrymen who are extremely fearful of this dreaded pandemic with the news about its spreading more n more with no hope of its recession in the near future.

However, despite the massive surge of 40 thousand cases during the last 24 hours with the national tally crossing 11 lakh cases, the director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences Dr. Randeep Singh Guleria is extremely optimistic giving the Delhi’s instance of receding Covid 19 cases in the capital city.

Dr. Guleria is also of the strong opinion that the infections at the pan India level are still quite less as compared to other countries of the globe, however, they need to be controlled very effectively in the near future.

He revealed that in India per million Covid 19 infections n fatality ratio compared to other countries of the world are still quite below especially in view of India’s massive population, which is equivalent to the population of several countries barring China.

Meanwhile there had been extremely positive n over enthusiastic response by AIIMS authorities from the people in the age of 18 to 55 through phone messages, WhatsApp n emails n so far more than one thousand people have volunteered themselves for human trials of the first indegionously invented anti Covid vaccine candidate COVAXIN.

The Drugs Controller General of India had accorded the necessary permission to Covaxin candidate for the Phase 1 n Phase 2 trials to assess it’s safety, credibility and potential efficacy on 29th June.

According to sources in AIIMS necessary initial tests have already started from today to ensure that no volunteer having given consent for trial in the age group of 18 to 55 suffers from any disease particularly diabities, renal related abnormality, heart ailments, liver complications etc. They should also be healthy with a strong immune system.

Apart from AIIMS ten other hospitals or medical institutes have been authorised to carry out human trials of Anti Covid 19 candidate vaccines.

According to news reports one more indigenous anti Covid 19 vaccine candidate had acknowledged the approval of DCGI n ICMR for conducting human trials which had started since a week ago.

Several countries of the world are busy inventing anti Covid vaccines with Russia n US having recently started human trials on three anti Covid 19 vaccine candidates. There are about 150 vaccine candidates on which the work is being conducted rapidly with the hope of early invention of an effective vaccine globally. The countries are USA, UK, Russia, India, China, Germany etc.
